King Charles is so Quintessentially British ☕🇬🇧 "Let's imagine the King meeting James Bond and maybe even loaning 007 his vintage Aston Martin. And of course, just like Charles, Bond powers it on British cheese and wine! 🧀🍷🫢" This picture looks like it could be a scene from @007 🎥😀 #KingCharlesIII @RoyalFamily #JamesBond

That’s all fine but you know why medicines are so expensive in the US right? And it’s not the Europeans trying to rip you off. - Regulatory framework nonsense - Middlemen and ridiculous insurance system - Legal risk (you people will sue for the most minor inconvenience or offense)

One thing that I am very happy with Trump about is that he (unlike past Democrat AND Republican presidents) isn't allowing other countries (including allies) to take advantage of America Europe has a history of freeloading from the US, and can you blame them? If previous administrations were handing it out this easily who wouldn't take it I give props to Trump for letting Europe know they're going to play fair moving forward Americans will no longer be forced to foot the bill for medical research while also paying the highest prices in medicine costs as well Trump W

Because when you build a very large house part of the purpose is for entertaining. You try having a cocktail for hundreds of people with only one guest toilet in addition to the en-suites. Also these houses are vast, you generally want to to have to go for an expedition when you need to pee.

So, how is the King’s brother? Andrew doesn’t seem to come up much amid all the praise for royal dignity and soft power. The monarchy is being sold here as continuity, restraint, and moral seriousness. But institutions are not tested by pageantry abroad. They are tested by whether they deal honestly with scandal at home. Andrew is the part of the story everyone politely steps around.

What did Charles actually do? He praised NATO in front of its loudest critic. He championed climate action in front of a climate denier. He called for interfaith dialogue during an administration that has banned citizens from Muslim-majority countries. He praised checks and balances on executive power to a room full of lawmakers who have been unable to exercise them. He referenced the Middle East crisis that is currently straining the alliance he was there to celebrate. He defended the Royal Navy after Trump publicly insulted it. And he did all of this while receiving standing ovations, bipartisan laughter, and a dinner invitation.

In Norway, it’s apparently discriminating to demand good Norwegian language skills when searching for new employees. That’s what you get for importing illiterates, and it’s so exposing to the agenda: they want everyone to be equally dumb.

You feel better now? You put that cross on your profile for a reason, yet what you’re saying and how you’re saying it runs entirely counter to the faith you profess. The problem you run into with an attitude of “fuck everyone else” is sooner or later you run out of friends. That leads to American decline, not greatness. Note - I am saying friends, not leeches, not opportunists.

@A_Sannikov 😂 knee slap. He didn’t visit his brother’s victims though. Any really, what power do you think Chuck has? He may have helped bridge the divide Starmer made. But Trump is gonna do what Trump wants. Because the UK won’t even be around in another decade. So 🖕🏼you and 🇬🇧 too.

He has opinions. He also conveys the opinions of the U.K. government. That’s not a politician. Not sure it even falls in the category of diplomat. Mileage may vary but thought his US speeches were excellent. Maybe he should try to apply some of this tact and understanding to a state visit to Moscow.

Of course there isn’t and Rolex is not what I’m talking about. What Rolex does very well is segment their customers by willingness to pay. The “wrist value” of a platinum Daytona is only in small part because of the platinum and in a large part because they have a queue a mile long of people who want the “fuck you” value in it.

@javisaidathing @Mubarak_mubious To a point. But a number of watches genuinely take a huge amount of man hours to make - and we are not talking minimum wage man hours either. New movements spread years of R&D across a relatively small number of pieces. It’s not as straightforward as you’re making out.

This is all pretty bad - you’re asking why you’re hosting a state visit ? And why this visit in particular? A few reasons in no particular order (note I am not a Brit so no personal dog in this fight): - The UK is historically and culturally the US’ closest ally, whether you like it or not - State visits are usually conducted by the Head of State and are a diplomatic tool - Having the King visit is of far greater interest to the media (ie in the admin interest) than the PM who generates about the same interest as a wet sock On to your bizarre attack on King Charles himself: - Referring to the King as a crowned ruffian juxtaposed against Paine’s “honest man” is actually very interesting in your case. Your democracy produced your head of state and the rest of the world has only just stopped laughing because the joke wasn’t funny the first time round and now it is genuinely hurting everyone. The King, in contrast, may not be perfect but as you rightly say is a decent and thoughtful man who provides tact and continuity on occasions that demand it - This is the fundamental benefit of a Monarchy over a Republic. The Monarch wields no political power (and traditionally abstains from any divisive political opinion) and thus is a unifier of the people. Again contrast that against your wildly polarised system. Mileage may vary but I’d argue that for the most part modern European monarchs do a good job here as they don’t need to fish for votes, just exude decency - The idea that America has no hereditary privilege is laughable by the way, there is plenty of it. It just lacks the formal title - Taking a potshot at the man’s age should be beneath you. Again, you have vested true power, now seemingly unchecked by the very system you’re championing, in an older man of lesser mind and character - Finally, give some thought to the actual speech he held. Given your own political background he scored points for you with wit and wisdom none of your own side has made stick - and was roundly applauded for it.

I've got nothing against King Charles personally—in fact, he seems like a decent and thoughtful man—but why the heck are we inviting the 77-year-old monarch of a medium-sized nation that committed something close to national suicide with Brexit to address a joint session of Congress? "Of more worth is one honest man to society," wrote Thomas Paine, "than all the crowned ruffians that ever lived." We are the nation that threw off a crowned ruffian and ended hereditary privilege to create a republic where the people rule. Happy 250th Birthday America.

@mihain2 @KyleJGlen It’s a country of 40 million people. What you seem to be suggesting is that the government of Ukraine shouldn’t be a recipient of aid (a large portion of which is military surplus) until the entirety of its population is broke. This obviously makes no sense.

No, Ukraine was not the third largest importer of Bentleys in Europe in 2025. The Kyiv office won third place in Bentley's "Business Performance Matrix" that looks at 61 dealerships and ranks them across 12 categories. In 2025, Bentley sold 993 cars in the UK, 537 in Germany and, 20 in Ukraine. Stop listening to these shameless propagandists.
Craig Murray@CraigMurrayOrg

Did you know Ukraine was the third largest importer of Bentleys in Europe in 2025? Did you know that Ukraine imported 15 of the new £600,000 Rolls Royce Spectres? Did you know Ukraine imports more supercars than Russia? I wonder where the money comes from and who drives them?
