We just completed the largest decentralised LLM pre-training run in history: Covenant-72B. Permissionless, on Bittensor subnet 3. 72B parameters. ~1.1T tokens. Commodity internet. No centralized cluster. No whitelist. Anyone with GPUs could join or leave freely. 1/n

ICP reportedly went from 270 → 4,097 new developers between Feb 1 and Mar 1 according to Electric Capital data. I asked an AI agent to download the raw dataset and verify it. Here's what it found: • 322 new repos created in ~2 months • 164 unique accounts • 82% have 0 stars, 0 forks, 0 issues • 37% of repos come from one account: caffeinepub (DFINITY’s Caffeine AI bot generating apps like waiting-for-name_135 and waiting-for-name_183) DFINITY's founder says the dev numbers don’t include Caffeine - but those repos already appear in Electric Capital’s ICP taxonomy. Even setting Caffeine aside, 322 repos from 164 users cannot explain a jump to 4,097 developers between Feb 1 and Mar 1. This would require ~3,900 developers to have suddenly started committing to existing ICP repos - with no obvious catalyst. Am I missing something? Full breakdown in the screenshot below.

ICP has been attacked since day one for not being truly decentralized, having one party (Dfinity) calling all the shots in practice. On day one, this claim was warranted, and not really contested. It was true - during a bootstrap phase Dfinity had de facto control over the network, but the plan was to let go of this control over time by decentralizing (selling) enough of their controlling supply. So Dfinity's control has gone down over time, allowing us enthusiasts to state with continually greater confidence that the network was decentralizing. By now, I and others conclude that Dfinity does not have majority control anymore, and the network is in fact decentralized. Those who still argue against that, usually will say that even if Dfinity's direct holdings no longer give them majority control, ICP users follow their neurons and just blindly accept what Dfinity says, so since everyone votes with Dfinity, the situation has only cosmetically changed. And my counter to that usually goes: No, the reason so many of us vote with Dfinity is not that we blindly accept what they say, but that we usually think Dfinity is right. Dfinity enjoys great trust and credibility with many of us, and that results in the smooth governance you see. Part of making this argument is the ability to point to how well Dfinity does with democratically anchoring their proposals. Dfinity comes out with their plans for intended changes well ahead of time, the community will discuss it in the forum, and if some serious concerns are found Dfinity will usually take this into account and modify their plans before even making a proposal. That is the real secret sauce for why Dfinity proposals tend to pass overwhelmingly. They do the work of getting everyone on board. This is why I think all the buzz about how "maybe Dom has a secret enterprise customer lined up in the wings that will make the gas hikes make sense!" is misplaced. That's not how Dfinity governs. They don't make proposals on a "trust me bro" basis and ask you to vote them through in order to then see secrets revealed that explain how the proposal actually made sense. That is not how decentralized governance works, and ICP is decentralized now. In my opinion Dfinity thinks that this proposal stands on its own legs and should be evaluated in isolation on its merits. It should NOT be assumed that you should trust Dfinity to have some ace up its sleeve that will make the proposal seem more sensible post vote. It is unlikely that Dfinity would come out and say "Just FYI, we do NOT have any big clients lined up" - no organization in their right mind would say anything like that. Some clarification on this matter would still be useful, because as it stands, the votes on the most important proposals in the network's history are being shaped by what amounts to conspiracy theories, that are fueled by the proposal making so little sense on its own that it would HAVE to have some secret component to make it work. There is presumably no secret customer just waiting for gas prices to rise "to their level" (yes I see that idea seriously bandied about). It is just a bad proposal, and if we ever wanted a chance to prove to the world that the network IS decentralized by now and we don't all just blindly follow Dfinity, this is our big chance. In my opinion, if we can prove to the world that the network is properly decentralized once and for all, simply by voting down a bad proposal from Dfinity, that will be worth more to the perceived value (and probably price) of the network than any tweaks in tokenomics could amount to.

Давно написать хотел, а тут такой повод - создатель Anthropic заявляет открыто. Айти индустрия на данный момент находится в точке взрыва. На протяжении десятилетий айтишники зарабатывали больше всех, и этому делу стремительно приходит конец. Мы с бывшим коллегой попробовали (сами не ведая) подтвердить на первый взгляд абсурдное утверждение о «выполненных 10 месяцах работы за час». Даже с довольно попсовым Cursor-ом у нас получилось полностью написать рабочую систему за неделю - это 5 рабочих дней. Эту же систему, с этими же требованиями, олдскульная айти-компания, в которой я работаю, оценила в 3500 рабочих дней - в 700 раз больше. Пока что не 1600 раз, как у профи, но тоже мозговзрывательно. Думаю, в ближайшее время востребованными станут профессии «промптера-архитектора» - человека, полностью понимающего код, и что происходит с системами внутри, но не пишущего ничего самостоятельно, и позиция очень качественного бизнес-аналитика/тестера, который сможет подтвердить, что поведение системы отвечает требованиям клиентов. Следующим этапом будет, несомненно, полный отказ от айти-компаний, когда владелец бизнеса сможет написать «вот мой номер счёта с бюджетом 100 тысяч рублей, подними систему на сайте ноготочки.рф, которая будет делать а, б и в, а все платежи за услуги посылай вот на этот счёт». В компании у бывшего коллеги в прошлом году была официально запрещена работа джунов - все тривиальные и понятные вещи стало обязательно делать через Cursor. Компании, которые к новой реальности не приспособятся, однозначно умрут.

Damn not looking good on the @onicaiHQ - but this is because they tried to raise 80k. Wondering why they set such a high bar,and if they plan on lowering it next time around. Why 80k ICP? What are we planning on using this on?This proposal will most likly fail unless whales buy!
