There was excitement and enthusiasm from the diligent youth guiding the walk, the esteemed clergy leading and the many members from not just the Armenian community but also in the local community who walked or watched the 20th Annual Good Friday Procession with the @acctoronto . Beginning at St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church, we walked together in reflection and faith—showing the strength and spirit of the community. I have been driving by for month wanting to try Son’s Dai Pai Dong! Finally, yesterday, I had the time to have a quick lunch. My friend and I ordered the beef brisket on fried rice and beef ho fun noodle with black bean — a popular choice. There is a specially brewed fruit drink to aid digestion — looks like tea but super healthy and soothing 🍵 Loved the homemade soup, included for the first 80 customers — changes daily (we had longan soup). Some other popular signature dishes to try are: the white poached chicken and the chilled sweet & sour pork (hot on top, ice cubes on the bottom 😮‍🔥❄️ — will have to try next time). I like how they have dim sum, specials , and a regular menu. Huge fresh “swimming seafood” 🦞 — especially the giant lobsters! Tonight at sundown, Jewish communities across Canada and around the world will mark Passover, a holiday that commemorates the liberation of the Jewish people from slavery in ancient Egypt. Families and communities gather for the Seder, where the story of the Exodus is retold through readings, symbolic foods, and traditions passed down across generations. Passover is also a time of reflection, renewal, and connection, bringing people together to celebrate heritage, faith, and shared values. #ScarboroughAgincourt

The federal government is taking decisive action to make our communities safer by investing up to $157.5 million through the Building Safer Communities Fund over the next three years. We’re investing in prevention—supporting local initiatives that address the root causes of gun and gang violence and create real opportunities for young people. Encouragingly, youth gun violence declined by 40% last year—but even one incident is too many, and there is still urgent work to be done. Public Safety Minister @gary_srp knows that safer communities start with stronger support systems. We’re making that happen. @CICS_Canada @ACSAtoronto #Scarborough

Today marks International Transgender Day of Visibility, a day to recognize and celebrate the contributions of transgender people in Canada and around the world, while also acknowledging the discrimination, violence, and barriers that many continue to face. Our government remains committed to advancing equality and protecting the rights of 2SLGBTQI+ people, including through support for community-based organizations that deliver life-saving services, mental health support, education, and safe spaces across the country. #ScarboroughAgincourt

For the past 10 months, the federal government has moved at unprecedented speed and scale – working across over a dozen federal departments and agencies to spend more than $63 billion,the largest year-over-year increase to Canada’s defence spending in generations. As a result of that work, Canada has achieved the 2% defence expenditure target – half a decade ahead of the previous government’s schedule. The 2% target is a foundation for an even stronger, more independent, more secure country.

Met some enthusiastic leaders from @salvationarmy during their visit to Parliament Hill yesterday. The discussion focused on housing and homelessness supports. Happy to have attended their evening reception too! Did you know? The Salvation Army also operates safe houses and long-term recovery programs for survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
