When people ask me why I tweet something and it reaches 5 million people or receives 20,000 comments, I tell them the same thing. First, drop your mask of superiority. Stop telling people that they should follow you because you have a Ph.D. They need me. Many Ph.D. holders work for individuals who never completed high school. Many successful people in life chose not to go to college and are wiser than those with a collection of certificates. The biggest computer and social media companies you use today were started by college dropouts. Education is valuable and should be encouraged, but it guarantees only 15 percent of your success. Once you drop your mask, you will genuinely become interested in people. Instead of expecting them to know you because you're important, you will take the time to know them and discover that your prejudices were often incorrect. Understand that people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. Secondly, be honest, truthful, and reliable. Don't post sensationalized headlines just to grab attention, only for people to discover that there's no substance to the articles or posts. Avoid manipulating people for sympathy. Continuously share facts in a way that allows others to retweet without hesitation, as you have consistently demonstrated over the years that your tweets are true and factual. The best way to respect your followers is by posting the truth and presenting the facts. Finally, and this is something close to my heart, engage in conversations with your followers. By reading their comments, you can learn more than what was contained in your original tweet, and others can also benefit from the discussion. Don't insist on "my way or the highway." Additionally, be open to criticism and correct your mistakes. Avoid holding onto a lie just because you initially stated it. For example, if you told people that lockdowns were great but overwhelming evidence suggests otherwise, acknowledge the mistake and adjust your stance. People engage with your content primarily based on your character and openness, rather than the number of colleges you have attended, or even the number of followers you have amassed. Take a moment to reflect on that.
