@lemmingstribes Yeah; it's a common half trick trivia answer here that the mountain west is the "most urban" part of the country. Reason being that there is very little diffusion of people in towns & villages out there. They concentrate in urban hubs that have "the" large water projects.

One thing I think that is undeniable in assessing how culturally separated the various parts of America are is that the human settlement patterns in the eastern vs western US are completely different.

Fun fact, the largest public celebration after a hockey game was in 1969. A year after the Soviet invasion, Czechoslovakia beat the USSR at the hockey world cup in Sweden. Millions of Czechs & Slovaks celebrated on the streets that night, chanting "Without their tanks they lose!"

Modern America figured out a replacement for churches. But you needed an above average IQ and a ton of student debt to get in. So our pseudochurches only worked for half of the population or less.

I do not think that the difference between the ugliest possible & most gorgeous possible architecture & design makes anything approaching a 1% effect on overall quality of life. I do not think that those who say they believe it does actually do either.
