In all the years of running NUFC pages, I’ve never seen the fanbase so divided.
The phrase getting thrown around now is “happy clapper” — just for backing a manager who’s literally made history. 🏆
Let’s not forget… Eddie Howe delivered our first major trophy in most of our lifetimes, and TWO Champions League qualifications. In today’s Premier League, that’s no small feat given the quality of loads of teams.
Those calling for him to go — fair enough - but remember that stance if a replacement comes in and doesn’t hit the ground running… because we’ve been here before. The grass isn’t always greener. Long-term fans will remember how quickly things can unravel (Bobby Robson etc).
On the flip side, you can’t even offer constructive criticism now without being labelled a “mackem” or ‘not a real supporter’. That’s not right either.
Truth is — this season in the league hasn’t been good enough by our standards. Eddie Howe, like the players, should be open to criticism. If you judge purely on this season, you can understand the chants for him to leave as 14th really ain’t acceptable especially given the spend. But if you look at his full time here, has he not earned enough credit in the bank for one poor campaign 🤷♂️.
We don’t tell fans what to think — that’s the beauty of football and want this to be a platform where people can share their range of opinions. But right now, the divide in the Newcastle United fanbase feels bigger than it has in years.
One thing should unite us though… we all want Howe to turn it around asap — and we all want the best for Newcastle United.

@cjon63 @oldheatonian It was, he then let the exact same thing happen and we nearly lost the exact same goal about 2 minutes later. He wasn’t even engaging with Rayan he was just letting him dribble at him.
English

@oldheatonian Definitely not just Hall’s fault as you say but poor defending by him. Made it far too easy for winger to get to by line
English

First thing to notice is once we lose possession, how deep & passive we fell into a defensive line.
Then watch Botman provide no support to Hall. Ditto Barnes.
Botman’s poor positioning see’s Thiaw drawn weakly to front post.
Tino fails to get across his man
EH & JT blame Hall
AFC Bournemouth 🍒@afcbournemouth
The work rate to get it back 💪 Nine players involved 😍 Our first goal at Newcastle is an absolute thing of beauty 🎨🔥
English

@Giniesta10 I couldn’t give a flying fuck, Botman has been utterly dogshit in most games he’s played this season.
His risk reward at the weekend was literally falling on the ball and nearly losing an absolute comedy goal.
He’s not who he was.
English

@Jim21093 Botman consistently average over 90% passing accuracy whilst trying to play more progressive passes compared to BDB. I don't mind the odd poor pass, no risk, no reward
English

This is something we have rarely seen, central overload
- Botman played it centrally here, I can guarantee that BDB would play it sideways
- 4v3 " Box midfield shape" with Tino inverting next to Miley at the base or the box, Ramsey & Tonali at the top of the box shape

@KinderCopUk @DarrelBirkett Where in the league were we when Bruce was sacked pal?
English

@DarrelBirkett Their worst seasons weren't anywhere near as bad as Eddie's mate
English

Howe cult saying he shouldn't be sacked because Newcastle have been finishing higher than their squad wage ranking. But look at this...
Bruce: 17th in wages → 12th finish
Pardew: 11th in wages → 5th finish
Howe: 7th in wages → currently 14th

English

How come the players get blamed by parts of the fanbase for what’s going on at the moment, yet when we have done well over the last few seasons it’s always the manager that takes the plaudits? #nufc
English

@StevenM91505424 @SupportersNufc What in fucks name are you talking about?
The “older” players have literally all had their roles lessened.
English

@SupportersNufc The reason people are annoyed with Eddie is not the league position, or even dare i say it the performances.
They are annoyed at him for the way he handled the summer xfers. The way he panders to the older players and has stubbornly refused to “move on” from the 25 team
English

@SupportersNufc It's not just that we're 14th that has everyone so pissed off, it's the lack of willingness to do something about it, every game it's the same formation, same subs at the same time, same tactics, same style of play, same rehashed talking points after every game.
It's insanity.
English

@jbyron1994 @eap101 @NUFCJordd *was a long time ago.
He’s won a Conference League in the last 8 years.
English

@eap101 @NUFCJordd Absolute serial winner. And don't give me what's he won lately. Howes won a league cup in his whole lifetime bar the tinpot promotions. Makes me giggle that toon fans turn there nose up at Jose 😂
English

@Nufc_kai39 @NUFCJordd He’d have lost most of the support by December I reckon.
English

@addressthetoon @thompamoo You’d think you’d post a less fucking idiotic stat about Howe then eh
English

@thompamoo I've been a fan since 1992. Hope that's okay.
English

Bournemouth have signed a manager with a 57.58% career average win ratio vs Eddie Howe's 43.8%

“It’s just one bad season”. It’s been shit for a full year. If I underachieved at my job for a full year with ZERO signs of improvement I’d be gone. If I invested substantial funds then refused to use half of what I’d bought and the other half didn’t work. I’d be gone. #nufc
English

@Sport_180 Our last run in the CL was nothing like now. 😂😂
We didn’t actually really ever have a squad fit for a CL season then lost one of our players to a gambling ban 😂😂

"Fergie tactic #EddieHowe must copy to save #Newcastle United job before it's too late"
#NUFC chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football…
My comments:
One of the best pieces I’ve read on ChronicleLive.
However, the symptoms were visible two years ago; the refusal to rotate and the over-reliance on a fixed XI led directly to the injury crises we've seen. Now, we are seeing those same issues on a much larger scale.
I have immense respect for Eddie Howe, but that shouldn’t grant him a free pass. Football is an evolving game, and stagnation is a risk.
For the health of Newcastle United—and for Howe’s own career—he has to adapt. Personally, I suspect a total rebuild under Howe would be more difficult than parting ways and starting fresh with a new philosophy—perhaps someone like Oliver Glasner, who has shown how quickly a clear, modern tactical identity can transform a squad.
English

"he will give his assessment of what's gone wrong and what needs to change".
Probably blame it all on Woltemade then suggest he needs even more control over transfers in future.
Alex Hurst@tfalex1892
If this is true then the club will never reach the ambition of being ‘number 1’ or competing for major honours by 2030’ They move too slowly. Could be 7 clubs in the PL looking for new managers this summer and it’s a World Cup year. Too slow. Never mind the squad rebuild needed
English

@Jim21093 @NUFC360 This argues Eddie lacks football IQ, relying on "track runners" rather than skilled players. By sidelining Nick who was winning points but doesn't fit his rigid system Eddie is accused of sacrificing the team's success for his own tactical stubbornness and obsession with pace.
