nearly one-half sounds more accurate to me from what Posties have been saying. The one-third figure is unattributed (aka made up, and reported by known-credulous media reporters) and perhaps meant to obscure the real number of WaPo cuts

Given that the newsroom’s pre-layoff employment was 790 people, this reflects a purge of between 44 percent of the Post’s journalists at the low end and nearly HALF (47.5 percent) at the higher end. Which is to say, the bloodbath was even bloodier than realized. End.

I tell ya, I was done with Twitter, er, X. But the defenestration of Will Lewis really energized it for me. It’s still a cesspool compared to before @elonmusk bought it but I’ve appreciated hearing from my former @washingtonpost colleagues.
