I do find it surreal that parts of our lives are now so pined after that people are making simulations of them.
My neighbors owned a video rental store when I was a kid. Used to get Genesis and Sega CD games for free on weekends. That's how I played Lunar.
It wasn't at all uncommon back then for people to just throw old things away. There were future things to look forward to. Somewhere along the way though, the future turned out to not be so bright.
I'm of the opinion that sometimes you have to look backwards to find your way forwards. Anthropological things like these are neat little exercises in seeing what once was, and maybe what could be again.
