In the distance, was a suspicious car. Two men standing beside it, laughing. Marcus didn’t hesitate. Fresh from a recent surgery, pistol in hand, he gave chase across three counties at 100 mph. He was on the phone with 911 the whole time. “If I catch them before you do, I will take them out.” The chase lasted 40 miles. The suspects ran, and Marcus stayed close. Texas Rangers finally intercepted them. One was driving without a license. Two were arrested for animal cruelty. Later, they’d both be convicted. Dasy was gone. But her spirit lived on in Marcus, and in the next Yellow Lab he named Rigby. Some bonds are forged in war, others are forged in unconditional love. Marcus Luttrell knew both.
