Big Brother Mzansi as a social experiment has actually illuminated an academic issue for me. It is staggering how these housemates struggle with simple instructions. Just to read and understand is a problem for them. I apologise because I always thought comprehension was a Twitter problem, but clearly young people these days have problems with reading and understanding text... Basic comprehension skills. I take it, it's because they don't read long text anymore. Technology has removed the need to think and solve problems on your own. It's an interesting, if not sad, thing to watch when every brief given to them they spiral.
