@jukka235 @sidherian @julie_bush These are “provisional” stats. Once final, some info is available in finer age bands. But Australian privacy restrictions also limit what can be published (ie no cell with less than 10 data points can be published, so weekly stats by finer age band not available)

@KarenCutter4 @sidherian @julie_bush I had a look at the files, many thanks. It looks that deaths of all <45 year olds are grouped into a single group (0-44). Why is that? Is there any data available in e.g. 5 year age groups? (In contrast, EU (Eurostat) follows deaths by 5-year age group, USA does the same.)

Finland's epidemic 22 Feb 2026: the amount of virus detected in wastewater is now 60% higher than during the first Omicron wave in 2022. The post-Omicron baseline appears permanently higher compared with the pre-Omicron period; repeated waves show no sign of diminishing. 1/x

@jukka235 @sidherian @julie_bush That graph is quite old (only to May24). Here is updated graph, and it shows that the experience in early 2024 was a one-off. Lulls are not increasing

@KarenCutter4 We conduct the count booth by booth. There are often more votes cast at large, early voting centres than smaller polling places on the day - more votes means a longer count time on the night.

@AusElectoralCom Why does it take longer to count pre-poll votes vs on the day votes?

This increase in pre-poll voting means that large pre-poll counts might take some time to get through. People will need to be patient with pre-poll centre counts finalising late on election night. x.com/auselectoralco…

@lion_peacock @Its_Airborne I do not think Covid has had a material impact on variance of life expectancy. Even though life expectancy may be measured as 82yrs, few people die at 82 - there is a distribution around that mean. Covid has not materially changed that distribution/variance.

Lifespan changes since the start of the pandemic... I'm not an expert and we won't know for sure for a couple of decades, but maybe ...
