After Minnesota nurse Alex Pretti was killed by federal immigration agents in Minnesota in January, Mullin said on Fox News he was “a deranged individual who came in to cause massive damage.” An investigation into Pretti’s death is ongoing. On Wednesday, Mullin did not apologize to Pretti’s family, saying he would apologize if he were “proven wrong” by the investigation. Trump tapped Mullin to take over the embattled agency from Kristi Noem, who was fired earlier this month after her leadership came under bipartisan scrutiny during tense congressional hearings.

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC. May God bless America.
