I quit my job in March to go all in on my business. In April I sent out 264k in quotes and did 24k in revenue, all from inbound. Of that 24k in revenue, 21k was just line striping and 3k was a big sweeping contract. Normally I wouldn't be okay with converting only 10% of quoted revenue, but there was one abnormally large quote of 150k that heavily influenced that number. Backing out that 150k leaves 114k in quotes sent, which is a 20% conversion based on 24k revenue. I'm happy with this given the fact that B2B has a longer sales cycle. I'm working a lot of hours and trying very hard to make sure my business survives so I can support my family. I consider April a success.

I've taken off of work to spend final days with my dog. Hung out together on the floor, gave them their favorite foods. Being present for your pet when they need you most is a gift. Make their final days amazing. Happily would cancel all plans, and nothing is more important.

@ramit We follow a budget, don’t go into debt on toys / depreciating assets, pay yourself first by saving & investing, be a generous giver! Currently teaching our 15/14 yr old kids this in real time. They each are buying their own index funds monthly, only spend cash/money they have.

One of my mentors once told me, "Ramit, we're a no-debt household." At the time, I was a college intern, and I thought, It Must Be Nice to simply declare you don't take on debt. After all, my boss was a successful high-earning Silicon Valley CFO and had a big house near Menlo Park. Easy to be debt-free when you're wealthy! But ~20 years later, after having spoken to 1+ million people about their finances -- including many high earners who are in debt -- I now understand his wisdom It takes real sophistication to create a culture of money in your household. You *already* have a culture in your house -- "In our house, we take off our shoes" or "In our house, we eat dinner together without phones" or even "In our house, we buy whatever we want, then figure it out later" -- but almost nobody creates an explicit money culture My boss did that together with his wife. When he said, "We're a no-debt household," that was the culmination of months and years of understanding money, talking about money together, and creating a money culture together What is your money culture? Have you ever written it down explicitly? Start by answering this question: "When it comes to money, in our household, we...."
