The Importance of Seeking Forgiveness From Allah

[Can You Earn Over 3 million Good Deeds?] The Prophet—may Allah honour and save him—said: “Anyone who recites a letter from the Qur'an will receive one good deed for it. And each good deed is rewarded with ten like it. I am not saying that alif lam mim is one letter. Rather, alif is a letter, lam is a letter and mim is a letter.” [1] There are over 300,000 letters in the Qur'an (Mujahid—may Allah show him abundant mercy—puts the number at exactly 321,180 letters [2]; Sheikh Zayd bin Muhammad al-Madkhali—may Allah illuminate his grave—put it at exactly 323,681 letters [3]) This means that if you recite the Qur'an in its entirety just once this Ramadan, you can earn yourself—at least—almost three and a quarter million good deeds! One could say “do the math” but it has already been done for you.
