Something being a great sporting phenomenon is independent of how many countries watch that sport. I don't understand how your tweet relates to the one you're quoting. Is a billion-dollar league where the best players from every country take part (except, unfortunately Pakistan) not a sporting phenomenon because some nationalities somewhere don't watch it? That's absurd.

Outside of India and expats, it would be interesting to know how much of the world actually watches the IPL.
