@cric_blog @danbrettig There is so much to impact here. Privatization will result in higher paid players. But at what costs? If the test schedule gets moved to accommodate BBL, its risk alienating fans.

According to a report by @danbrettig in The Age, top Australian players including Pat Cummins are considering jumping ship to the SA20 in 2028 if salaries in the BBL don't improve. Also, a number of players in the BBL are reportedly frustrated that international players earn about $100,000 more than Australian players in the tournament. More headaches for CA as they push to convince all state boards on the need for privatisation in the BBL.

@GregAFC They are proper professional competitions where players move to rival clubs and coaches get sacked mid season. It creates drama and headlines.

This is why comps like the NRL & EPL are SO good & captivating as a fan. It’s not just a wkend match watch. It’s a massive constant daily soap opera which is equally as engaging off-field as on.Metcalf yest, Cleary today. Endless drama. Union just doesn’t barely have this side.

@TukDie @Amermalik12 Pakistan don't play a lot of test cricket and when they do its usually on tough surfaces for pacers. Add in the PCB's focus on T20 cricket, its easy to see why young fast bowlers focus on short-term cricket. We all know tests are where legacies are made and bowlers develop.

@Amermalik12 Anyone who bowls 145 kph will straight up get T20 contracts and not play FC to prepare for test matches. Its tricky here to identify a 145 kph pacer for tests

Nahid Rana is the type of fast bowler Pakistan used to produce on a regular basis—just where has it all gone wrong? Maybe start by running some pace bowling camps, assessing which players have the temperament and potential to take wickets in excess of 145 kph in test cricket.

@Amermalik12 Put it into perspective, Pakistan beat SL away a few years ago. Shafique gets a 200 and Shaheen/Naseem bowler well. In three years they have completely dropped off.

There was a time when it was almost unthinkable for Pakistan to lose to Bangladesh in test cricket — unfortunately this side has clearly demonstrated it can’t handle pressure, and have literally been found wanting. Mediocre batting and bowling won’t win you games —or any fans.

@Fancricket12 On the flipside, Jason Holder going for under 7 an over. Incredible effort. Would be interesting to which pitches he has bowled on.

@AdamKerrBell Baseball was a dying sport in the recent years & last among major 4 American sports. But MLB is kinda having its revival moment. The world baseball classic saw record numbers. The stars like Shohei, Judge, etc also play a factor. RN, MLB is beating NBA in viewership.

@AdamKerrBell coverage and statistical analysis is just so much better than cricket. Don't get me wrong, I still love cricket, but I just find baseball far easier and better to watch and follow than white ball stuff. The sporadic nature of white-ball cricket where nothing ever matters ...

@AdamKerrBell With cricket, I'd say it's because there are tons of leagues. While MLB is just one. NBA, NFL, one. As a fan you're deeply invested (in the sport, team & players) because of singularity. But with cricket, this is missing & it's like a 1-2 month event rather than a journey.
