#WATCH | Chennai | On Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin's video message on delimitation, BJP leader K Annamalai says, "Very unfortunate! The kind of language the Chief Minister uses in that video. He is saying that Tamil Nadu will go back to the 1960s, threatening the PM. Very unfortunate, fear-mongering. PM Modi is making every effort to give respect and representation to our mothers and sisters. When the bill came to Parliament in Sept 2023, it was passed unanimously. Now, the PM is trying to implement it earlier so that women do not suffer. We are following a process, and nowhere is it said that it is a population-based increase in Lok Sabha seats...Even before seeing the bill on April 16, the CM's creating fear in the minds of people is condemnable. It goes against the oath he took as the CM."

BREAKING. TO ADDRESS CONCERNS OF SOUTHERN STATES OVER LOSING OUT IN DELIMITATION EXERCISE as per Top Government Source: +Total no of seats will increase by 50% + Seats of each state will also go up by 50% + Existing proportion of seats of states will remain the same + 2011 population is not the binding factor BUT CAN IT BE DONE? Yes. In any of 4 ways. 1. Amend Article 81 of the Constitution of India to fix inter-state seat proportions 2. Tweak Article 82 of the Constitution of India to delink strict population criteria 3. Extend/modify freeze via constitutional amendment beyond 2026 4. Mandate Delimitation Commission of India to expand seats, not redistribute

Imagine the Lok Sabha has 543 seats today. To win a majority, you need 272 seats. Uttar Pradesh (UP) has 80 seats, Tamil Nadu (TN) has 39. A uniform 50% increase multiplies every state’s seats by 1.5: UP gets 120 seats (+40), TN gets ~59 seats (+20). Total seats become 816, so the new majority target is 409 seats. Percentages stay the same (UP still ~14.7% of total), but absolute numbers matter for winning. The majority target rose by 137 seats (409‑272). However, big northern states like UP, MP and Bihar together gain more than 200 extra seats, while all southern states gain only ~65 extra seats. A party that wins all seats in UP gets 40 more MPs toward the 409 target, but the same win in TN adds only 20 more MPs. So, even though it’s proportional, the larger absolute gain in the North makes it easier for a north‑strong party to reach the higher majority threshold with less help from the South. Thus, the status quo of percentages is maintained, but northern states gain a practical advantage in forming a government.

Hon’ble Prime Minister, this is Tamil Nadu’s final warning. மாண்புமிகு பிரதமர் அவர்களே, இது தமிழ்நாட்டின் இறுதி எச்சரிக்கை! #TNwillFightTNwillWin
