We used @alphaschool this year for our oldest. The academics were great — more than 2x growth. But the bigger win was confidence. His coach helped instill it, and we can almost pinpoint the moment it clicked: he realized he’s smart. That belief plus agency are the real keys. My twins are excited to join this coming Fall.

Summer at Alpha runs on the same three commitments as the rest of the year. Kids love school, learn twice as fast in two hours a day, and spend the afternoons building life skills. For a lot of families this week, it was the first time their kid came home and said, "I love school!"
Rachel@rachelgoodlad

Overheard at @Alphaschool Summer today: I’m not sure how we’re going to drive an hour each way to school but I better start problem solving because my son has to go here.

Starbase is a surreal experience. This megastructure is building and assembling 10 starships and 5 super heavy boosters (according to Elon) this year. Steel comes in one end and the world’s largest most powerful rockets come out the other. You can just drive by and look directly into the future. It’s crazy to think this whole structure, vehicles, and launch pads only cost ~$15B (the same amount Google spends on EU fines in 18 months).

@5150Farms In the world of AGI what holds value? Stocks can be easily disrupted. I’m betting investments that are finite will be the true store of wealth along with AI and related companies.

@NickHorob I couldn’t recommend this course enough. Ai will be the defining tech of the next decade in agriculture and beyond. Learning how to apply it now will definitely pay dividends in the future.

The first day of AI on Your Farm was a ton of fun! After getting a ton of great questions and feedback that are going to allow us to fine-tune and enhance the curriculum, we've made the decision that we'll definitely be launching cohort 2 later this winter. Join the wait list if you're interested in joining us for the second cohort of this course.

@NickHorob And here is the big thing. AI is getting better at a rate of 10x. A year. What will it be capable of in three years. That isn’t 30x better that’s a 1000x better.

The important thing that I didn't emphasize enough in this video is how easily I was able to build a system that can "pull" the correct data from this spreadsheet. This should open your mind to thinking of ways that you can combine different data sources and pull them into a database/tool that is customized to the information you want to look at on your farm or business.

Here's an overview of the grain marketing tool I built this morning that I'm calling Futures Past. It's a simple tool that's meant to help visualize the timing of sales and hedges. It could be taken in a lot of directions from here.

Parent perspective: Alpha Anywhere that my son is enrolled in is the real deal. My son now does mental math nonstop - percentages, ratios, you name it. and the AI noticed his love of Roman history, then built GenAI lessons around it. Incredible coaches + curriculum. This IS the future of education.

@chrisman We have had Synthesis for a while and the kids love it. My oldest starts Alpha home school this coming week and his first question was “Is Alpha going to be as fun as Synthesis”. Can’t wait to get started!!!

AGI, by its very definition, will automate work and kill jobs Every new model we release is another step toward automating everything. The entire point of the AGI race is for AI to do our jobs, not to create more jobs! Most people don't want to admit this!

@Jason @Figure_robot It’s coming! Have Dario on to defend his position against Sachs. Would be great to hear both sides. Freidberg I think is right in the midterm. Long term (10 years +) nothing is safe.

Remember I said there would be massive AI-induced job displacement last week on All In? 📝 Remember some besties said I was hysterical? 🤔 Here’s one hour of a @Figure_robot sorting packages. That simple category of task employees tens of millions globally for $1-15 an hour Those robots will cost $10k in five years and run for < $1 an hour Waymo’s are replacing thousands of human drivers as we speak — that’s hundreds of millions of people globally displaced. We will see 1B people lose their current jobs to AI in the next 10 years or so — it’s happening folks. It’s uncomfortable to discuss and it’s totally possible to manage job displacement — but not if we insiders pretend it isn’t happening Docket for Monday @twistartups @alex @Lons: “How many people will lose their jobs to AI in the next 10 years”

@RileyRalmuto Video data outside of synthetic is the only one that is almost infinite. That’s where I thought XAI had an advantage with Tesla. If he is using that I wonder what his source is. The scary part is the CCP has more than anyone.

remember how I told y'all that Ilya's been working on an entirely new form of data? and a large part of the reason for their silence (aside from not having a product or need for marketing) is due to the nature of this work? not too exciting on its own (to the general pop) ya know? but when it is time...you will see. what do you think Ilya saw, with this information in mind?

@Jason Good for both sides. Actually meeting and debating differences is great. You know they won’t agree on everything and that is OK. But having discussions from “the other side” is more important than staying in an echo chamber.

I think it will start with the home school groups/individuals first. They have already made a conscious decision to intervene with there child’s education and are always actively seeking how to do a better job. I agree on the principle that it will lead to a tipping point when AI/tutors start showing a rapid increase in testing scores across various domains.

The point @rabois makes about vertical integration is right. In education the way I think this will play out in K-12 education is many hardware integrators opening physical schools, and one software integrator, which I of course believe will be Synthesis. The hardware side is integrating real estate, facilities management, people, administration, and marketing for enrollment. There will be multiple providers because geographic expansion takes time, network effects are limited, and there is no one-size-fits-all school model. These providers will grow rapidly because dissatisfaction with the current system has reached a tipping point, and school choice is sweeping the nation. When the data start to come in showing how much more effective these schools are than their public counterparts, there will be a stampede as families rush to get a spot and avoid being left in public schools where brain drain will become a worsening problem. The limiting factor in growth will be operational excellence at scale. In the long run I expect the market to resemble that of grocery stores — the factors of real estate, operational intensity, and consumer taste are relevant and similar in both industries.
