Hello, my name is Barry NewsMaxx. I want to illustrate what Jimmy Lai did. Let's pretend I am the CEO of USA today. Or New York Times. I am the top dog. Tippy top CEO owner operator. I am an American citizen, business owner, and I have major influence on American society. One day, I decide the American government needs to change, maybe be toppled, but it definitely needs to be FORCED to change from outside forces. The Chinese government calls me up. Says they agree, the American govt needs to change. We start making plans. We got whatsapp groups. We got backchannels.  We start organizing, recruiting, and encouraging people for revolution and protests. We help make long term protesting possible. When the protests turn into riots, we help incite and train the rioters. I provide the daily news headlines to encourage the protestors/rioters. I go on major Chinese forums and call for the destruction of America. Even suggesting nukes should be used. If I, Barry NewsMaxxer did all of these things as the CEO of USA today or New York Times. How would Americans react? I think Americans would demand the HARSHEST punishment on me possible for treason.  I mean look at how American athletes were treated just for making the slightest criticisms on the world stage about USA. Yeesh. Free Jimmy Lai? Not one western reporter was found at the courtroom during his recent trial. Many details missed or flat out ignored. Free Bobby Shmurda.

Chinese youth are now taller than Americans. They are better educated. They live longer. Half as many women die in childbirth. They have 8 of the top 10 universities and are ahead in over 80% of techs. If China's poor, American sucks at being rich.

At some point last year, we realized we were spoiling our toddler by letting them control the car soundtrack all the time. So we instituted a simple rule: each parent gets turns too. Naturally, I use this to play a lot of Mandopop. My partner does a mix of Mandopop and older English stuff. Now our toddler’s favorite songs include “Africa,” which they correctly identified as being by the same band that also makes our bidet (lmao), plus a bunch of Mandarin songs, many of them more alternative or rock btw lol The unexpected benefit is that this seems to be turning into a real literacy hook. Sometimes we do karaoke in the car, and I’ll pull up the lyrics. They realized Spotify has a lyrics function, and now they want to learn Chinese characters by following along to the words of songs they already love. Which is honestly such a good reminder that kids will work much harder to learn something when it feels connected to identity, taste, and pleasure, not just instruction Just like I really fortified my Chinese with martial arts novels, kiddo is gonna do so with FIR band lyrics lol

I was born and raised in China and lived there for over 20 years. China is a communist totalitarian state under the absolute control of one man — first Mao Zedong, then Deng Xiaoping and his successors, and now Xi Jinping. There is no real freedom — not in speech, not in thought, not in daily life. The majority of Chinese people support the government because they have been fed a nonstop diet of lies and propaganda since the age of three. They defend the CCP with absolute certainty, never questioning, never challenging — they simply swallow the official narrative and memorize it. That is why China produces so few genuine inventions of its own and instead relies on stealing technology from the United States and the West. Under this system, ordinary Chinese people have neither the freedom nor the ability to think independently. Everything glamorous you see about China — the glittering cities, the high-speed trains, the perfectly staged spectacles — is carefully fabricated propaganda for foreign consumption. Behind that facade lies the real China: the everyday lives of ordinary people, especially those in the countryside and villages, which most Westerners cannot even begin to imagine. The poverty, the surveillance, the fear, the grinding control — that is the truth the CCP desperately hides from the world. This is not exaggeration. This is lived experience. The Western world needs to stop believing the China regime’s lies. China is the biggest external enemy to the West. China sends spies to the West to corrupt your politicians such as Democratic Party and Labor Party and to cause turmoils and chaos from within.

Out of all the previously(?) sinosphere ppl who now hate China/Chinese-ness, I'm most confused (and scared) by Korean sinophobes. Your name is written in Chinese still, how do you reconcile with that without messing up your head?? (Japanese can pretend kanji is Japanese.)
