Experts are saying it: SUVs damage our roads more than ordinary passenger cars. I’ve asked @TfL to look into the effect of supersized SUVs in London as more of these vehicles take up space on London’s roads. theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/a…

I’ve written for Labour Hub about my time as an MSP and the importance of carrying on the struggle outside Holyrood’s walls. 🔗 Read the piece online now. buff.ly/LgEz87O

We are out in New Cumnock speaking to voter. This is a constituency with a long history of trade union activity and socialist politics, parties like Reform will only look out for the rich. Thanks to @LabourMercedes for making her way down to Ayrshire to help out.

NEW: Today I’m announcing plans to deliver at least one new late-night youth club in every London borough - the biggest investment in youth clubs ever made by a Mayor. We’re bringing youth clubs back. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Lovely sunny sessions in Cambuslang today and a warm response on the doors for our candidate, @MonicaLennon7.🌞 After two wasted decades, Rutherglen & Cambuslang needs a fresh start - @ScottishLabour is best placed to beat the SNP and deliver the change our communities need.🌹

It was a pleasure to join social sciences students at Edinburgh College to discuss my time as a Member of the Scottish Parliament. We had a lively discussion about the structural barriers facing women and the working-class in modern Scotland and how they may be overcome.

The speculation today is wrong. No decisions on Jackdaw have been made - it is incorrect to suggest otherwise. The developers have confirmed the process is ongoing, and the independent regulator has recently requested further information before any final decision can be taken.

Scotland doesn’t need more divisive politics, it needs change and a First Minister who will bring our communities together.

This year marks the centenary of the 1926 General Strike, called by the TUC in solidarity with coal miners facing wage reductions and longer working hours. Their struggle remains strikingly relevant today and I was proud to mark the anniversary with my final Holyrood motion.

It was a pleasure to meet sisters from across Britain & Ireland last month as we attended Stormont’s Women’s Caucus, a cross-party forum made up of all current female MLAs. Such gatherings are critical to address the under-representation of women in our politics.

From today, energy bills will fall by 7% for families across the country. We took the decision in the Budget to ask those with the broadest shoulders to pay their fair share, and today we see the result of that. Vital cost of living support delivered by this government.

I was pleased to meet with representatives of Historic Environment Scotland in Parliament this month. With an ever-greater number of iconic locations threatened with closure and cuts, protecting and caring for Scotland’s historic environment is a task of vital importance.

I’ve long believed in the power of procurement. It can strengthen Britain's critical industrial resilience as part of what I call 'securonomics'. And applying a new 'public interest test' for contracting decisions will strengthen our public services. theguardian.com/business/2026/…

I was pleased to meet Consumer Scotland in Holyrood. The organisation is the independent body for consumers in Scotland, working to protect the public from predatory corporate practices. With such behaviour on the rise across the country, Consumer Scotland's work is critical.

To approve the Rosebank oilfield would be to prioritise further North Sea oil and gas extraction over international law and the risk of complicity in apartheid. That can never be allowed. It's one of many reasons why we must #StopRosebank.

I was pleased to join the STUC Women’s Committee and Young Women’s Movement last week to support their ‘Women Demand Better’ manifesto. Demanding the eradication of violence against women and an end to sexual harassment it’s a critical intervention in this year's election.

Saturday the 21st of March 2026 marked World Down Syndrome Day. People with Down Syndrome in Scotland are too often let down by exclusionary systems and practices. The 21st is an important reminder of the extensive work to be done to redress this inequality.
