The speculation today is wrong. No decisions on Jackdaw have been made - it is incorrect to suggest otherwise. The developers have confirmed the process is ongoing, and the independent regulator has recently requested further information before any final decision can be taken.

I was pleased to meet Consumer Scotland in Holyrood. The organisation is the independent body for consumers in Scotland, working to protect the public from predatory corporate practices. With such behaviour on the rise across the country, Consumer Scotland's work is critical.

To approve the Rosebank oilfield would be to prioritise further North Sea oil and gas extraction over international law and the risk of complicity in apartheid. That can never be allowed. It's one of many reasons why we must #StopRosebank.

Saturday the 21st of March 2026 marked World Down Syndrome Day. People with Down Syndrome in Scotland are too often let down by exclusionary systems and practices. The 21st is an important reminder of the extensive work to be done to redress this inequality.
