We are using organoid-based disease models to discover new chemical tool compounds to study metabolism in cancer and the gut. These "mini-organs" closely resemble the human organ/disease and allow us to study the disease-relevant chemical space. 1/2

By building a sterol transport protein (STP) screening set, we identified OSBP as the target of our compounds. They are selective over ORP4, as well as over all tested STPs! The compounds led to inhibition of retrograde trafficking and attenuated shiga toxin toxicity! /fin
