Pleased to share our paper published today in Hypertension. Using data from the Jackson Heart Study and a computer simulation, we found maintaining normal BP over the lifecourse could add up to 4.5 years of life and 6 years of healthy life.

Homes in L.A. were still smoldering when Zillow rents started to spike. Volunteer rent gouging sleuths quickly started tracking the data. They found 1,343 listings that appear to have broken the law. My @LAist story is the first to report on their findings.

A furnished Bel Air home went on Zillow today for $29,500 / month. A few months ago, it was asking $15,900. I called up the agent. She said she told her client to re-list the home after this week's L.A. fires. "People are desperate," she said. "You can probably get good money."

Landlords are raising rental listing prices by more than 50% to profit from the fires. Penal Code 396 prohibits price-gouging during a state of emergency. @bad_tenant has started a doc of the listings: bit.ly/price-gouging-… Contributions welcome!
