US European presence: ~80k troops + bases (mostly Germany/Italy). Incremental costs ~$10-15B/year embedded in the $980B US defense budget (not "paid to NATO"—funds US forces for US/European security). Ukraine aid: Separate bilateral effort, not NATO. ~$183B allocated since 2022 (~$60B/year avg., mix of weapons, econ/humanitarian). Disbursed ~$83B so far. These are US national choices, not alliance "dues." Total NATO defense: $1.4T (US ~60%).
