Here’s a Trent Williams trade scenario at draft time. Was able to trade down just a couple of spots down and still get a 3rd round pick this year and next year for Trent. Still able to find a quality LT and hit on all other needs. #49ers

What happened at UTSA's Pro Day on Wednesday was insane, and I don't see anyone talking about it: Kicker (!!) Jaffer Murphy was clocked as low as 4.47 in the 40-yard dash and made a 70-yard FG. He also made 12 of his 13 attempts. Murphy spoke with over a dozen teams, I'm told.

@AJGullotta @LombardiHimself He's not wrong. Spotrac is using top 51 contracts and isn't including practice squad. Lombardi is using top 53 and practice squad. Lombardi takes it all into account because it will all count eventually.

They will have to cut him, trade him, or pay him but they don't have to do that until September. If WAS wants to wait until then, so be it.

Notes on WR Brandon Aiyuk via @nwagoner on the John Keim Report: • Doesn’t believe a team will trade for him • Aiyuk “sort of” has a de facto no trade clause; trading team would have to rework his contract in which he can have a say in that. • 49ers “very aware” of Aiyuk’s desire to play in Washington. • 49ers don’t have any picks after fourth round, so late-round pick swap not possible. • Washington has huge advantage over any team because of Jayden Daniels relationship with Aiyuk • [Keim]: Sense is that Washington feels pretty good about Aiyuk from what they’ve heard from Jayden; Sounds like Aiyuk has been working towards playing. • Aiyuk had good reputation with teammates; commanded a lot of respect in locker room.

@thomas_pm2 @49ersSportsTalk @spotrac It's not just partially true, it's true. They have prorated cap hits from previous bonuses that will escalate into 2026 if they release or trade him prior to June 1st, which makes it unlikely he is moved prior to that date.

Either way, he's not getting released and is unlikely to get traded. It's either an extension or he plays out the final year at $38 mil.

That bonus is already paid to him today. He already got it. It’s 9:12 AM, that shit gets processed automatically. There is ZERO chance he gets released. Jed York isn’t cutting Trent Williams a $10 million check just to cut him right afterwards. It’s fuckin moronic to even think that’s a possibility

49ers LT Trent Williams is due a $10 million roster bonus on Friday. We should have a contract resolution by tomorrow. His cap hit for 2026 is nearly $39 million, which is the big hold up for the 49ers right now. Williams also has no guaranteed money left on his contract. The 49ers should give him an extension through 2027, which includes guaranteed money and a good average annual value. #49ers

@chandrasharma @Coach_Yac If Washington wants him in time for camp, they can send a late round pick in June. If not, then they can wait until September. 49ers have a roster exemption for him and have no incentive to release him.

@Coach_Yac They have no incentive to cut him before 9/1. If a team out there like Washington really wants him to be part of heir offseason program, they might be motivated to send a late-round draft pick in exchange. Why not use that leverage?
