From your own anecdotal observations have you seen PAT usage in general (includes #cycling and #escooter usage) rising in #melbourne since the fuel crisis. Apologise if you answered previous poll I just wanted to extend the poll deadline.

Labor (unsurprisingly) will be fine but the primary is down atm and that’s really unfathomable from a couple of months ago

While Castlecrag NIMBYs are horrified they may be able to see new apartment buildings, real estate ads frequently boast of "skyline views" as a major selling point. I like being able to see the Chatswood towers from my breakfast table. NIMBYs are just afraid of change.

Fascinating 🧐. I think usage will go up but the govt need to rethink the cost of short distance fares. Many of the longer distance fares are already captured by the low cost of the fare caps but shorter distance costs are quite high compared to many other cities around the world

@Llib7 @JacintaAllanMP Yup. Makes sense. Capping of Vline for non metro area same as metro area doesn't make much sense. I'm sure people from Bendigo or Shepparton happy to spend a bit more, let's say $20 or $30 for up & down with half fare for under 12.

@Llib7 @JacintaAllanMP Not to be one with the lens but not technically 😅. If you are in zone 2, it's kinda okay but the bus frequency is terrible.

I understand the appeal of cul-de-sac life. It’s seen as a multipurpose space for kids to play and calms traffic. A much better solution is to create neighborhoods with better parks that kids can play in and have places that people can walk/bike to instead of driving.

here’s a crazy fact: under congestion pricing, NYC subway ridership grew by more than the *total* number of riders on BART last year

@wheelreinvent Well PT is still much cheaper than driving so a more important element is service. Although short distance fares should be cheaper

The news is full of people talking about how they’ll have to drive less because of increased fuel costs And yet, you still have every midwit public transport fan and train nerd insist that fares are of no importance to PT usage.

I’m still trying to get over the fact that the mayor of Yarra released this video presentation celebrating the return of 48 on-street parking spots like it was the announcement of a new library or possum orphanage. Local politics is another world. 😁

In an election year the ALP can focus on cost of living by boosting public transport services. Incl the north and west but also buses @MelbOnTransit #melbourne @BenCarrollMP @ColinBrooksMP @AnthonyC4PV @SarahConnollyMP @Steve_Dimo @paul4frankston @mjfregon @SonyaKilkenny
