AWU - Australian Workers' Union
On this day in 1907, the AWU made history by securing Australia's first-ever Industrial Award in the Federal Arbitration Court! The Pastoral Workers’ Award increased wages by 20% and set 48-hour working weeks for shearers across the country, with work to stop at 12pm Saturday.

Victoria’s food and beverage manufacturing industry is the biggest in Australia – worth $45 billion and supporting more than 76,000 jobs. We’re backing it with $10 million in grants to help businesses electrify, lower energy bills, cut emissions and boost productivity.

The Victorian economy grew 1.5% last year, slightly higher than the national economy (source ABS). The Victorian treasury expects the state economy to strengthen this year to 2% (again higher than the broader Australian economy) and is forecasting 2.5% growth in 2025/26.
