I’m not a beggar. I’m an artist. A photographer. Someone who creates work with his own hands, even as his vision gets worse and worse. I’m selling my art not because it’s convenient. I’m doing it because I don’t want to just beg for money. I want to give something back in return. I created this work, and I want to offer it in exchange for support. A lot of people still believe that an artist should suffer. That if he sells his work, he’s “not real.” That a true artist is supposed to live in poverty, stay sick, and stay silent. I don’t accept that. An artist shouldn’t have to suffer. An artist has the right to sell what he creates. An artist has the right to fight for his vision instead of quietly going blind. My situation with my eyes is serious. Glaucoma + keratoconus. I’ve already had multiple complex surgeries. Right now I don’t even know how much time I have left. It could be days. It could be a couple of months. But every single day the disease keeps progressing. I need a specific procedure — Micropulse. The goal is $9,500. I released the open edition “Mission: Rescue the Light” on objkt for 5 XTZ. Not because I want to get rich. But because this is the only way that lets me not beg for charity, but offer my actual work in exchange for help. So far I’ve raised only about $86. Yes, I know how it looks from the outside. “Another artist asking for money.” But this isn’t “another artist.” This is me. And I’m running out of time to save what’s left of my vision.
