75% possession, but about 70% of it was just those four players in the blue triangle passing the ball among themselves, completely clueless about how to break Arsenal down 😂😂😂
@shanekennedy06@Ivan_Schwakoff@LFC The players Klopp had pressed…this squad of players won’t…Mane, Jota, Nunez, Diaz, Milner, Robbo, Fabinho all terrorised the opposition when out of possession! Grav, Mac, Hugo, Isak, Frimpong, don’t!
@MADDOG7965@Ivan_Schwakoff@LFC had arguably the best pressing team in world football under Klopp with two games a week. I’m not massively confident of Iraola but Jesus if he’s hired give him a chance!
To be a part of an Iraola team you’ve got to be athletic and be able to cover huge distances on the pitch
You’ve got to be press resistant but also technically excellent
Who’s in trouble boys?
@JagSingh81@Ivan_Schwakoff Exactly! Can’t keep up those levels of energy in a 60 games season. Need a fully fit squad of 26 players always available, and constantly rotating to be able to.
Luis Enrique after winning the UCL final with PSG:
🗣️ “What we've achieved tonight is incredible. To win the Champions League is the dream of every player, every coach, every supporter.
But if I'm honest, I still haven't decided what my future looks like.
PSG have offered me everything. They want me to stay for many years and continue this project, and I'm grateful for that.
However, I've always said that football is about challenges, and after reaching the top, sometimes you start thinking about what comes next.
There is one club in England that I have always admired from afar Liverpool.
The history, the passion, the atmosphere at Anfield... it's one of the most special clubs in world football.
People may be surprised to hear me say that, but it's true. As a coach, you dream about experiencing certain places, and Liverpool is one of them.
I'm not saying I'm leaving PSG tomorrow. Not at all.
But if an opportunity ever came to manage Liverpool, it would be something I would seriously consider.
When a club with that history calls, you listen.
Tonight I'm celebrating as PSG manager. Beyond that, we'll see what the future brings.”
@footballontnt Gurnin about not getting a penalty but not one journalist asked him about the Saka handball that would have been given in every other UCL game this season!
💬 "It can easily be a penalty... the referee has made a decision and a different one with Mosquera - and yeah it's an important one."
Mikel Arteta reacts to losing in the UEFA Champions League final and that Noni Madueke penalty shout...

@LFCApproved@LFC Realistically is there anyone other than Iraola that could take Slots place? Or should we just get used to the fact that Iraola will be our new manager very soon?
📰 Scouted & Approved - 30/05/2026
- Liverpool FC can confirm Arne Slot is to depart his role as head coach with immediate effect and that the process to appoint a successor is under way. [@LFC]
- In terms of filling the Konate void in the back line, Liverpool believe they will have two of the best young centre-backs in Europe competing for a place alongside Van Dijk next season. [@JamesPearceLFC]
- Inter keep working on Curtis Jones deal as negotiations continue. He was top target in January and still top of Inter list for the midfield. Jones, open to joining Inter and clubs in contact. Agreement not close yet as €20m suggested fee is not enough; but deal on. [@FabrizioRomano]
- Arne Slot is said to have torn a strip off his players at half-time at Anfield vs Chelsea (1-1 draw). The tirade was so forceful that it was heard in the corridors outside the dressing room. [@_pauljoyce]
- Overall, the group has not been a happy one. There have been lots of contract issues eating away at players, the latest being Ibrahima Konaté’s looming departure on a free transfer after failing to agree new terms. John Heitinga was perceived as a buffer between the squad and the coaching staff. That is not to overplay his role, but if it is being mentioned in dispatches as something that has been missed it is because someone, somewhere thinks there have been problems he might have solved. [@_pauljoyce]
- Andoni Iraola is at the very top of the shortlist to succeed Arne Slot. The Liverpool hierarchy also appreciate the profile of Pierre Sage, although he is not currently expected to take charge of the Reds. Liverpool representatives travelled to watch him at RC Lens at the end of January, with the club’s permission.[@FabriceHawkins]
- It is understood that Michael Edwards spoke privately to Arne Slot about these lapses, but there was no obvious improvement in either his soft skills or use of the squad over the course of his second campaign. [@davidlynchlfc]
- By way of mitigation, it was often suggested by supporters that the tragic passing of Diogo Jota had wrecked the most recent pre-season entirely, but that was always played down by those who had been close to the camps. Instead, there was a feeling that key details were being ignored, not only relating to fitness but also set-pieces, which played a key role in damaging the first half of the season. [@davidlynchlfc]
- Academy staff were privately sharing frustation that Arne Slot did not seem to be immersing himself in all things Liverpool, rarely paying attention to goings-on there. And it could be argued that this attitude was reflected in the training schedule he implemented, frequent holidays, and the fact his family remained in the Netherlands. [@davidlynchlfc]
- Andoni Iraola clear favourite for Liverpool job. [@David_Ornstein]
- Liverpool have decided they need a new manager to give the club the best chance of moving forward with a more front-foot, aggressive and urgent style of football. [@_pauljoyce]
- Liverpool plan talks with Andoni Iraola over this weekend as they look to make a quick appointment. Iraola has paused other negotiations, including Leverkusen and Crystal Palace. Negotiations with LFC are expected to progress fast. [@JacobsBen]
Congratulations to PSG - although, honestly, I thought the Arse had the best of it. Back 4 immense. Back 5, in fact. And Gabriel is a giant. Standing straight and accepting. Incredible.
Thierry Henry on the referee awarding a penalty for Kvaratskhelia but not for Madueke:
🗣️ “I'm furious, absolutely furious.
Someone needs to explain the consistency to me because I'm not seeing it.
Madueke gets brought down and we're told it's not enough for a penalty. A few minutes later, a similar incident happens with Kvaratskhelia and suddenly the whistle goes.
How can players, managers, and fans trust the process when the same challenge is being judged differently in the same game?
For me, that's unacceptable.
The referee has made himself the main talking point of the match, and that's the last thing you want in a final.
If one is a penalty, then both are penalties. If one isn't, then neither is. It really is that simple.”
Best club competition in the World and the referee has zero interest in being fair, what’s the point?
Blowing HT during a corner, giving every 50/50 in PSG favour, ignoring the blatant pen on Noni.
Disgusting.
@Footballtweet 😂😂😂😂 The whole Arsenal team only had 25% possession!!! The only thing Rice covered was his 16 yard line, barely left it!!! Vitinha however was incredible!
We need to talk about Declan Rice's performance in the final against PSG. 💪
He's been absolutely MONSTROUS. 💀
When they said 70% of the Earth is covered by water and the rest is covered by Declan Rice, they weren't lying.
I'm just happy he's English. 🏴
@piersmorgan Yep a disgrace he didn’t give a penalty for the Saka handball or a 2nd yellow for Mosquera for giving away the penalty! But sure don’t let the facts get in the way of a good tweet! The ref was fantastic!
@IanDarke Arsenal had one shot on target the whole game, 25% possession, got away with a Saka handball and yet you think they made PSG who had 75% possession & 21 shots in total look ordinary?!?! You’re having a laugh! They parked the bus from the 6th minute onwards!!!
Arsenal unlucky tonight. Played really well. Denied a pen most refs would have given. Made PSG look almost ordinary. But two awful pens in that shoot out.
