Five things to remember about war: 1. Many things reported with confidence in the first hours and days will turn out not to be true 2. Whatever they say, the people who start wars are often thinking chiefly about domestic politics 3. The rationale given for a war will change over time, such that actual success or failure in achieving a named objective is less relevant than one might think 4. Wars are unpredictable 5. Wars are easy to start and hard to stop

@megrowler All of these policies and plans maximize short term profits at the expense of the long term future of the game. Even the medium term is at risk once they’ve squeezed out all of the juice. But the powers that be will all be retired by then.

Growing baseball for the long term would not just reverse these policies and plans but also ensure that many more games can be seen by more than the few who still have cable/RSNs. We couldn’t even watch the compelling final of #WBC2023 without cable.

@jordanpbradford Why not an inexpensive, unmanned, submersible version made with a non-metallic composite that runs on solar where the solar arrays are the only part above water when charging/running? A dozen or so could be barfed out by a mother ship well clear of trouble.

When we give @Ukraine the support it needs to win the war, it serves to strongly deter other nuclear blackmailers in their territorial aggressions. Helping @Ukraine does not increase the probability of nuclear war, it reduces the risk of future nuclear conflagrations.

Outside of a handful of nationally televised games, virtually no Yankee games this season were broadcast over the air this season. Only on cable.
