Disagree with the below. Therapists, check your biases at the door.

Opinion on mental health that will have you like this?

Had my first ever therapy (psychoanalytic) session where I felt safe to express frustration/confusion (transference?) directly with my therapist. It was the most healing and impactful session yet. This was possible due to both the therapeutic relationship and my developing understanding of transference (and sharing of it) as critical to the process. I’ve ghosted 4 (non-psychoanalytic) therapists in the last 4 years due to not knowing how to handle internal tensions that arise and/or (more recently) not trusting the therapist to know how to handle it. I’m a psychoanalysis groupie here on X (which greatly helped prepare me for this) but I can’t overemphasize how different and more powerful analytic therapy is compared to primarily “supportive” or CBT/adjacent forms. If you can’t afford or find a therapist trained and seasoned in psychoanalysis in the US, look in other countries. Mine is in Mexico, but LATAM in general has more practicing analysts and often don’t have regulations that limit where they practice (virtually).
