I think we have done our own season in by the lack of a striker in January. Too many mistakes high up at the club, if a manager/coach made these they would be moved on. Be interesting to see if this is even a consideration. Letting a player leave who didn’t want to and at the time it was good business at £5m apparently.

Difference is age (3 years) and a quoted £7m transfer fee that we wouldn’t have paid anyway. Armstrong is now on over £50k per week until they get relegated and it will drop to late £30s. Minutes per goal in championship this season Patrick is on 133 not in a great side creating what we do. Armstrong was on 185 when he left for Wolves. Signing Patrick would have also helped develop Strelec, Conway and Sene who are still young players. Bigger picture sometimes in helping develop our assets and he would be still good enough for the Premier League IMO. We will never know now but the fact we have needed another striker since August baffles me at how badly we planned this and maybe we didn’t think we would be in this position if the truth is told. Then can we get over the line without signing a number 9? At least we are not in Leicester or Blackburns position #UTB

@Loulameg Yeah I get that. The only difference between the two would be age.. I personally think there was perhaps a reluctance to go for Bamford for some reason.. maybe historical? Anyway we’ll never know.. we’ve still got a great chance of promotion 🙏🤞

@mattyhynes88 @ShaunyRye I have seen that and that wasn’t the case. It was an easy deal to do as there was no club involved so no transfer fee to agree just player terms and length of deal.

These loan players look to be out of contract in the summer, but i think there's already a permanent transfer obligation in place for Sarmiento (£3m seems a lot given he'sout of contract soon). Boro fans, would you be happy to sign all three permanently? #Boro #UTB
