Finished SHENMUE III last month (and already preordered an Enhanced CE) after somehow avoiding all spoilers for years. Enjoyed it A LOT. Beautiful game, as relaxing and meditative as the first two, and while the story wasn’t as deep as I’d hoped for, I’m already eager to replay it. So with all that said… #LetsGetShenmue4

Started watching THE UNIT because my wife and I wanted a show we could watch together. Given its pedigree, David Mamet and Shawn Ryan, I should’ve gotten here sooner. I really like it. And nice to see President David Palmer get to play Jack Bauer.

People shitting on the Buffy cast for posting about Nicholas Brendon’s death don’t understand what it means to have cared about someone for many years while also understanding they can turn into someone you don’t know. It doesn’t make their mourning invalid, fake, or in support of the person’s negative actions in life. We really need to teach people what it means to be empathetic and nuanced because I fear we’re losing major components of our humanity here.

We gotta slow down today. I know this man had lots of struggles, but he was a fantastic Xander. I don’t care about the “modern take,” he was a favorite character. His delivery of that yellow crayon story to Willow always makes me shed a tear. Sad day.

I grew up with Chuck Norris. My dad and I went on a run where we rented all his films. Some of my fondest childhood memories involve us cheering Norris on as he annihilated bad guys with bazookas and rocket launcher equipped motorcycles. A legit icon. THE DELTA FORCE is one of my all-time favorite films—said without a trace of irony (because too many people think that way about him). Rest in peace, Chuck. You’re a legend.

@MattFini So sorry Matt. My interactions with him on here were always great. He seemed like such a good guy and I've been a fan since Urban Legend - a movie that inspired me early on to craft thrillers. I know he inspired a lot of other people too. Jamie will be missed.

Word of Jamie’s passing has devastated me this week. I didn’t know him long, we became close during COVID and since then I don’t think there was a month in all that time where I didn’t talk to him. We bonded over our mutual obsessions: synthwave and movies. But we also loved talking about our families, and were looking forward to a time when we could all get together and have some laughs. Jamie and I went from fast friends to frequent collaborators and I had the honor of working with him on two projects. Some of the most fun I’ve had in this business. His enthusiasm was infectious, for our work, yes, but for everything else, too. He had a larger than life personality and that came through no matter the topic of discussion. Jamie was one of those people who seemed to love life, and he made you want to love it more, too. Jamie loved supporting the horror genre. One of our last conversations was just rattling through the slate of horror films released so far this year. He was also quite deeply touched by the outpouring of love here on X for the 25th anniversary of his film VALENTINE. A film that, many of you know, was great back then and has only gotten better with age. So if you are among the many on this site to proclaim your love of that movie this year… just know that Jamie saw it and that it meant the world to him. Sincerely. The world feels a little quieter this week. And forever. I’m still adjusting to the fact that he’s gone. My heart goes out to his beautiful family in this unthinkable time. Rest in peace Jamie Blanks. I love you, brother.
