Born today in 1876 – Zewditu, Empress of Ethiopia. Ruling 1916-1930 she was Africa’s only female head of an internationally-recognised state in the 19th or 20th centuries, and the Ethiopian Empire’s only female Emperor Regnant. Conservative, but she reformed royal governance.

@ProfKindeya All TPLF factions are enemy of Tgray in particular and Ethiopia in general. EPRDF is still in power. The only difference is TPLF is replaced by OPDO as a dominant power.

The Madness Continues! #Tigray While the negotiators were at Pretoria in November 2022, the then TPLF leadership, especially Dr Debretsion was desperately crying out to Getachew Reda to sign an agreement the soonest possible. I recall that military commanders would come to my office, explain the situation at the battle fronts & ask me to call Getachew and push to sign a deal. As the commanders were aware about what was happening at the battle ground, they were right to insist for at least a cease fire. We all know what was saved due to the signed CoHA. However, after the agreement was signed, the TPLF Executive Committee immediately started denouncing the agreement. First, it was said that the delegation shouldn’t have signed on the behalf of the TPLF and hence we should disown it. There was much heated debate within the TPLF Central Committee, reaching a point of polarized "suicide politics," where someone said, would rather commit suicide than accepting while the another one saying would rather commit suicide than not accepting. Nevertheless, because the majority of the Central Committee accepted it, the Pretoria Agreement was sanctioned. Dismayed by the decision of the CC, the executive committee came forward with a concealed roadmap to impede the implementation of agreement with time. After a month or so, surprisingly, those who used to say "tear the agreement up", once they assumed their power is guaranteed, started heralding the acceptance of the agreement. They even went to the extent of declaring that we shouldn’t have needed a third party in the first place, and continued as far as bowing until their backs bent begging for an appointment to secure power, Now, since everything has failed them (and may we be spared from such calls, as we were also elected for the Council), the madness continues by summoning a Council dissolved by Pretoria Agreement, they claim to be the signatories. The speed they are going to dislodge the Interim Regional Administration and install the dissolved Council of 2020 would have been fortunate had this been used for development. They are gathering elderly parents in meeting halls and making them to support their evil moves by raising hands —people who look like they can barely carry their own hands, let alone hold a machine gun. These hands are antennas of destruction. However, the youth, who are expected to be sacrificed in the war, are not part of the decision making. The "War Traders" are the ones deciding for them. But the Tigray youth have woken up and are saying “No" to war . Our entire community is also bypassing these meetings by either not showing up or remaining silent. Many are also opposing them with grit. This should be encouraged and supported. Recently, I heard a former comrade of ours saying, "We are prepared enough for war; we have tactical allies," etc. This is a fairy tale that does not exist. Military commanders have told the group of madness clearly. But no one is there to listen. For example, recently (as the military training head in Aksum described), they aimed to recruit 15,000 youth for training, but they only managed to deceive and bring in fewer than 100. Even those, I don't think will stay. There is nothing noteworthy to speak of in other preparations as well. Our youth have done well by saying no. Let this continue. Even those in the army are not on a fighting mode. Even if there were sufficient military capacity and preparedness, there is no benefit for Tigray that can be secured through war at the moment. The preferred option to secure Tigray's interest, autonomy and constitutional right is through dialogue and debate short of a threshold of war! We must not allow a few individuals to decide Tigray”s destiny. We must prove in practice that Tigray is greater than a few power mongers. A simple question for the "hands off" crowd. I understand your dislike of US and European involvement - but if you are so intent on keeping outsiders out of interfering in Africa, why the infatuation with White Russians to come and be the saviors? What am I missing?
