Massacres Committed by Greeks Against Turks Throughout History Greek nationalism and the dream of Enosis turned into systematic atrocities and ethnic cleansing against the Turkish people. Beginning in 1821 in Morea (Peloponnese), the Greeks carried out genocide-like massacres that continued in Western Anatolia and Cyprus. Innocent Turkish civilians, women, children, and the elderly, were brutally slaughtered by Greek gangs, the EOKA terrorist organization, and the Greek army. These crimes are among the most shameful pages in history. 1821 Morea Rebellion Right after the Greek revolt began on March 25, 1821, Greek militias attacked the Turkish-Muslim population in the Morea Peninsula to completely eradicate them. - Tripolitza (Tripolitsa) Massacre (September–October 1821): After a 5–6 month siege, forces under Theodoros Kolokotronis entered the city and massacred 30,000 to 40,000 Turkish, Albanian, and Jewish civilians (some sources say up to 50,000). Women were raped, children smashed against rocks, and people burned alive. Kolokotronis himself said: “My horse’s reins were soaked in blood up to the bit.” - Navarino (Pylos) Massacre (August 19, 1821): 3,000 to 8,000 Turkish civilians (mostly women and children) who surrendered were mass-executed. - Other Regions of Morea: Similar massacres occurred in Monemvasia, Acrocorinth, and Kalavryta. Between 1821–1822, approximately 100,000 Turks/Muslims were killed or forced to flee. The centuries-old Turkish presence was wiped out. Crete and Other Regions Greek gangs attacked Turkish villages in Crete during the 1821 uprising and later revolts (1866–1869, 1896–1897), massacring thousands. In the 1912–1913 Balkan Wars, the Greek army also targeted Turkish villages in Macedonia and Thrace. Greek Occupation of Western Anatolia (1919–1922) After occupying Izmir in 1919, the Greek army carried out systematic massacres and scorched-earth policies across Western Anatolia. Hundreds of thousands of Turkish civilians were brutally killed (some estimates reach 600,000). Over 250 villages were burned, mosques turned into death traps, and civilians were massacred in places like Yalova, Menemen, Alaşehir, and Nazilli. Massacres in Cyprus (1963–1974) Greek-backed EOKA terrorists launched attacks to eliminate Turkish Cypriots. - Bloody Christmas (December 21–26, 1963): Over 370 Turkish civilians massacred in Nicosia and other areas. 25,000–30,000 Turks were driven from their homes. - 1974 Massacres: Maratha, Santalaris, and Aloda (126 women, children, and elderly massacred); Tochni (84–85 Turkish men and boys executed). The Greeks continued the massacres they started in 1821 Morea through Western Anatolia and Cyprus. Turkey’s victories in 1922 and the 1974 Peace Operation saved the Turkish nation from these atrocities. The Turkish nation will never forget these sufferings and will always speak the truth! 🇹🇷
