@PicturesFoIder 25+50=75. That's what happens in my head! I notice right away one number has two more than a quarter in the ones place and one has two less than two quarters so I go from there with two friendly (money) numbers, 25 and 50. It's simple to do addition in increments of 25 .
@Jennifer_Hogan Yes, with my very small, newly formed book club. It hasn’t grabbed me to the point of “when can I steal a few minutes to read this” or else I wouldn’t be on Twitter right now. Lol.
With a break in grad school & work projects, I started this yesterday and got halfway through it. It’s sooo good! Anyone else reading it? #bookclub#lessonsinchemistry
@robertlufkinmd High Fructose Corn Syrup!!!! Oh, and the fat free craze, margarine, glyphosate, avoiding "dietary cholesterol", the list goes on and on....Some called it progress. It's been a disaster.
@plcEvangelist Keep as much "nonsense" away from your teachers as possible to allow them to spend as much time and energy on their students and their craft as possible.
PSA: You can’t intervene your way out of a Tier 1 problem. Explicit, systematically planned Tier 1 and 2 instruction is essential in order for Tier 3 to be fully effective.
Always reflect on Tier 1 and 2 first. #multiplyexcellence
First grader: When I grow up, I want to be a principal!
Me: That’s awesome! You will be great! What made you decide to be a principal?
First grader: You get to walk around in fancy shoes just saying hello to everyone all day.
Me: 😳
There’s isn’t a bigger fraud in politics than Larry Hogan. Not a shred of sincerity exists in a single cell of his body. The reason Maryland Dems love him is because he’s one of them. I know Larry Hogan. Consider yourself lucky if you don’t.
Yet another study – this one especially strong b/c it followed students for 14 years – showing that holding at-risk kids back a year in elementary schl (i.e., making them repeat a grade) is remarkably effective....at causing them to drop out of high schl: is.gd/ZFL9at
If you work in middle school, the answer is yes. One day I had a student ask me how many pairs of shoes I had. She then proceeded to go through the colors of espadrilles I had! Others chimed in to help her.
@GovLarryHogan Do your "emergency actions in preparation for this surge" include making sure that life saving and hospitalization preventing treatments will be available to ALL who need them? Tests don't prevent hospitalization-early treatment does.
With hospitalizations and deaths our primary focus, we have already taken a number of emergency actions in preparation for this surge, including the following:
As we’ve been projecting, our statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations have now surpassed 2,000—a surge driven primarily by unvaccinated patients. It cannot be stressed enough that getting vaccinated and boosted are your strongest possible defenses against this virus and its variants.
