@eliasmakos For RDS games in BC, I have to sign up for Sportsnet+ for $250 !!!!! It’s frustrating- I watch NHL channels in English because it’s was cheaper. I also have to listen to Gary Galley😩

Developing language story in Quebec. French broadcasting rights for the Montreal Canadiens next season have yet to be determined. In English, situation is set. You subscribe to TSN and Sportnet, you can watch all the games. In French, it’s much more complex. Sources tell @JeremyFilosa that RDS already loses $500,000 per game they broadcast, and they cannot take on the share of games they’ve had in the past. TVA Sports is also bleeding money, and they cannot pick up the slack. They may even need to get out of broadcasting games completely. That leaves streaming to fill the gap. But if the Canadiens go that route, it would put the team in a situation where English fans have it much better than French fans, both in cost and complexity. The Habs are aware this would be a terrible look. And a bigger long term question is how will Canadian broadcasters keep up with escalating rights fees as the country’s economy continues to stagnate. This is the canary in the coal mine.

@SamAMcKee Run the deadline, or ruin the deadline? Not a leafs fan, but the league is better with a competitive Leafs team. I expected a dip from them this year, but not this bad. Hope Pelley needs to nail this choice. Not sure he can get a Mulligan.

Leafs should look outside the box for their next GM like the Habs did with Kent Hughes, someone with a fresh new approach and fresh new ideas, but knowing them they will probably hire some retread GM like Peter Chiarelli.

@StuCowan1 I'd bring him back for another year. Dodd are Habs will be moving a roster winger this summer anyway, at worse, 13/14th F

Joe Veleno has become a valuable commodity for #Habs earning only $900,000. Can play centre or wing, kills penalties, is physical and is a good teammate even when a healthy scratch.

@NathanGraviteh So if VGK ends up missing the playoffs, McCrimmon and possibly McPhee should get axed too!

Unfortunately, Bruce Cassidy committed the one inexcusable sin for any NHL head coach: Having the worst goaltending in the NHL. How dare he.

Josh Anderson will not return to tonight's game, but is not injured (sick). He could play tomorrow. If he can't go, they can dress Xhekaj and go 11-7. If not, they can make an emergency recall, since they'd have less than 12 healthy forwards. (Ensuing 4848393 Laine questions)

It really is a shame that Nick Suzuki doesn't play more on the penalty kill. Of course, he already plays a ton and MSL uses the PK to get Kapanen/Evans/Anderson/Danault more minutes. But when he's on the PK, his elite two-way play truly shines. Dangerous at both ends.

@EthanGSN Seriously, Demidov could have 10-15 more points and still Schaefer should be ROTY. Isles are no where near a playoff spot w/I him. Any other year and Demidov wins it, but you cannot deny what Schaefer is doing! This from a Habs fan!

@mndamico If you have Guhle playing 3ed pair on his strong side, give him 17+ and ok time, then you have a deep LHD. Now let's get a RHD "Guhle", now you're cooking with gas!

Kaiden Guhle looks to have found his mojo again. I'm not huge on small sample sizes, but the last two weeks, he's looked like the Guhle of old. Physical, assertive, mobile, aggressive. May be listed on the Habs 3rd pair, but played just under 21 minutes tonight.

@PatrickET Expect Blais to be called up when the playoffs start. No cap space for him if they are looking to bring up Reinbacher at some point. Heck, I,'d be open at having WiFi on 4LW, so if he gets overzealous, the team still has 6D.

Montreal’s biggest issue is they are insanely soft, and I fear they’ll get exposed in the playoffs. Hopefully Anderson and Dach are back, Xhekaj should be a regular over Struble or Carrier and Blais should be up there on the 4th line by then.
