How does having Engstrom instead of Xhekaj/Struble change anything to Matheson TOI?

Why are people married to the idea that Matheson is the only guy to “eat” minutes?
Hutson, Dobson and Guhle can all play top minutes effortlessly.
Giving Xhekaj 5 minutes a night is stupid.
If Xhekaj and Struble struggle (which they do) then give Engstrom some reps.

@PatrickET They’re right lol. You can “have an issue”, hell everyone including them were pissed at the mistake, but what are you suggesting is done about it? You going to act like he hasn’t been good this season?
He made a bad play, it was brutal but what can you do but move on?

I’m shocked the Francophone broadcast for Montreal games doesn’t have an issue with Mike Matheson causing goals against.
Not like it’s the same crowd defending Montembeault, Carrier and Bolduc, and who were fine with how much Veleno was playing.

@PatrickET You forget Hutson, who's extremely good offensively, but still pretty bad defensively. Take it like this: Xhekaj's errors typically cost penalties, whereas Hutson's typically cost goals.

I’ve been saying all year Montreal isn’t a lock.
MSL has made baffling decisions, Montembeault gets endless chances (10 wins), Xhekaj gets ostracized, Carrier/Matheson/Struble face zero accountability, but Demidov gets benched.
They’ve cost themselves points all season.

It’s irritating because Matheson is a legit top-4 D when it comes to positioning, skating, and defending.
The problem is 99% of the goals against with him on the ice come from him trying to do way too much with the puck.
He’s constantly overthinking himself into trouble.
