He won't be remembered 40 years from now anywhere as much as Santo in Mexico is today. He will be remembered much more than Gorgeous George or Londos were 40 years after their deaths. Hogan in the U.S. in 2066 vs. Rikidozan in Japan in 2003, no.

@William74424982 @davemeltzerWON 100% agree but its like saying ali wont be remembered, Hogan will be remembered due to changes, think social media, television changes, repeats, etc ive been harsh on @davemeltzerWON but im a wrestling fan and feel attacked when Hogan is slated 😂

Imagine being this dense. I don't argue against Hogan, I listed him in the top tier. The fact some people think wrestling was invented in 1984 and America is the world is actually humorous to most historians as has become clear.

@davemeltzerWON Ironic that Meltzer is finding more relevancy by arguing against the most influential wrestler in history. Do the Marks realize that he can’t argue for Hogan because all his ‘sources’ don’t like him…

30 years after Rikidozan's peak was like 1987. He was far bigger in Japan than Hogan in the U.S. in 2017. Besides this argument isn't about fame, it was most influential, Hogan didn't create an industry, Hogan didn't at one time have seven or eight of the ten biggest TV ratings in history (Not wrestling, TV in general), his matches were never bigger culturally in the U.S. than the Super Bowl, did not essentially be a prime force in television becoming an instituion, nor did he train and groom cultural figures at the level of Baba & Inoki in Japan and Kim Ill in South Korea. 40 books, far more than that number in documentaries.

@davemeltzerWON It’s your *opinion* that Rikidozan of the 50s/60s was a bigger icon than Hogan. Most would disagree I’d bet. My opinion: Compare each 30+ years after their peak. More NON-FANS knew Hulk Hogan. Thats your litmus test. Not nerds like us that breathe the artform.

@we_all_are_same Un-popular opinion: should have stayed retired. Has never moved the needle and doesn’t have a single memorable feud of any kind

@Tonysmarkettips I don’t think you know what opinionated and vociferous mean. He’s a fence rider who attempts to find the positive in people. Don’t know why anyone would think he would go hard on this story

Pat McAfee is one the most opinionated and vociferous human on the planet...except when it comes to the most interesting sports scandal of the year. Potential tampering allegations, a COTY voter kissing a coach who won COTY, Vrabel missing the draft ... McAfee = crickets.

The WWE has absolutely disgraced Bray Wyatt with the way they mishandled and tossed away the Wyatt Sicks Sickening, honestly.

This was one of the most boring go-home shows for WrestleMania I’ve ever seen. And the crowd didn’t do it any favors either… #SmackDown

So there’s a big Morgan Wallen concert in downtown Minneapolis and all of a sudden the “I’ll never go to downtown Minneapolis because of crime” narrative doesn’t exist for the people that make that claim? 🤔
