It seems to me that you were focusing on whether cheating and violence are the same, but that wasn’t the point I was trying to make. I was saying that impulses or susceptibility due to DNA don’t determine behavior. Saying “the violence Blacks bestow upon society” is still assigning the actions of individuals to an entire race, which is the broad judgment I was trying to challenge. I think it goes deeper than “Black people are just violent.” Environment, upbringing, trauma, opportunity, social influences, and personal choices all matter. Yes, we should flat out condemn harmful behavior without reducing an entire group of people to the actions of some individuals, even if a lot of people are doing it.

This is interesting, but a scientific finding is not a destiny. Many human beings have impulses they don’t have to act on. For example, a married man may feel attraction toward other women, but that does not mean he is destined to be unfaithful and cheat on her. Character, self control, values, upbringing, and environment all matter. Also, even if a genetic variant appears more frequently in an ethnicity doesn’t prove that Black people are automatically violent. We can’t turn one statistic into a broad racial judgment.

It’s one thing if you’re disrespected in the series, but as you’ve mentioned… You’ve been taught since an early age in sports to be respectful and it just comes with sports in general. They can choose not to do it, but you open the door for scrutiny. And it’s warranted. I will say this, I wished people extended sportsmanship and the like outside of sports where so many demand it.

Shaking your opponent’s hand doesn’t mean you“respect” them. It’s a formality.. and it’s meant for 4th grade kids. This is professional sports. We have to stop with these rules that have never existed.
