@MikeJToronto YES! 100%. I think Boards also need additional supports right now to get kids into schools and clear policies & procedures about what to do when that’s not happening, including parent workshops.

Note: we are talking grade 9 kids. Think about how much is lost from missing out on the HS experience. We need these kids at school where they can learn, develop social skills and access any necessary supports they can get, delivered by caring adults. It's not just about a mark.

I have students on my class lists that have now missed over 50 classes this semester but are still eligible to earn their credit. If we are talking "back to basics", we need to start with a minimum required level of attendance, post-Covid or not. #OntEd

Everyday, #OntEd schools are short staffed & students go w/out necessary supports due to Ford's cuts ✂️✂️✂️ He always has $$$ to spend on private, for-profit deals. Yet, when it comes to public ed, he shortchanges the system & cuts funding by $1500 per student. Shame! #OnPoli

Today we proudly shared the first draft of our digital storybooks by reading them to our Kindie buddies 🤗 Our “Littles” helped co-author the books by brainstorming different parts of speech that my “Bigs” had to then work into different sentence types. Next week: adding audio!

These headlines are two days apart. On Wednesday, a pastor and mayor in Alabama was outed for secretly dressing in drag. The condemnation was swift and severe. Today, he took his own life. Anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric has deadly consequences. Please join me in praying for his family.
