I've been tasked with coming up with some team building games for our year 5s to do during our residential when they are not taking part in the organised activities. Does anyone have any fun, easy to prep ideas that I could bring to the team please? 😊

A year ago this weekend, my HT sent me home alone in tears. I cried for hours. That was the day I decided to quit. I couldn't take any more. I was living a hard life created for me by others and, to top it off, management had broken me. 52 weeks later, I am free.

@mssfax @MissB_Y6 I always think songs and games help. There are lots on YouTube. I once did a times table intervention where we learnt songs to the tune of what was in the charts. The year 6s thought it was lame at first bit the times tables definitely stuck!

Do any of my primary or secondary maths Twitter friends have any advice for supporting with times tables at home? My Y4 daughter is struggling. They just don't seem to stick! We do daily rote for 3 mins, I've got TT rock stars and practice sheets. Thanks!

@MissO_Ed Identify your juggling balls - glass, wood, plastic and rubber. Glass ones will shatter if you drop them - you must do these Wood ones will make a big bang if you drop them but will survive Plastic ones will drop silently and no one will notice Rubber ones bounce.

Work is slightly overwhelming this week. Lots of things going on in addition to the norm. Please give me your tips for working smarter not harder? Some people just seem to be so on top of things. #ShowMeTheWay

@ChrisD63718664 But I am sorry you are feeling the same. Unfortunately, I think it's the kind of job where it is so easy to do so. I hope you find your rhythm soon.

@MissO_Ed I have felt like this a little this week. I feel like I’m being pulled in lots of different directions. I’ve made myself a list in priority order and am going to try and be kind to myself if they don’t get done.

@ChrisD63718664 I started following the bullet journal method a while back and it is similar to this - write it all down but it doesn't have to all be done. It really helped. I just want to be quicker at things... or have more hours in the day haha

@joshuaseigal I think you're probably right. Some people seem to just breeze through and I feel I'm always chasing my tail. I want to know their secret but it is probably all in my perception.

@MrHtheteacher I do the same! Always have my diary to hand. LM is brilliant. Told her I'd lost 2 afternoon releases & had training to catch up. She said she'll cover to give time back. I get more ppa now but new sch so things take longer. Need to find ways to be smarter in approaches think.

@MissO_Ed I map my week out in advance, so I can better compartmentalise my working week. Sometimes it's worth sitting down with a brew and some music on and mapping your week out so you know what lands where. Also, speak to your line manager and let them know that you're overwhelmed

@DoctorPreece Thanks for response. I'm much better at not taking work home now & have been prioritising exercise and food. Still need to get on top of caffeine and sugar. Eisenhower grid - had to look it up but have heard of these before. May be good to try. Never have been good at delegating.

@MissO_Ed Personal: know what soothes, recovers and helps you. Plan that, deliberately, and be accountable for it. Don't let it slip and accidentally keep working through. Get good sleep where you can. Get good food where you can - avoid insulin spikes & crash. Exercise/SADL if possible.

Positive obs feedback, being supported in my decisions within the classroom with the simple reason given that "you are the class teacher" and now a weekend away with the teaching staff. This school is a whole new world (and not just because of the different country and culture).

Side note: if any of you lovely lot have ever run an origami club before and have any tips or suggestions, I'm all ears! (First time club running and definitely amateur level paper folder!)
