@kate_stockings To be honest, so much of the world has changed with David Gardner's book on Planning the Curriculum - there's a lot of really great wisdom in that space which I think is hugely beneficial.

@MrsKEcowarrior @primary_geog Tissue paper, pens, draw on each others faces or hands.... gets contours and shapes
Notes.
Pick the pens carefully!
Can pick other things, not people, and avoid those challenges
Can draw contours, then try to build the shape.

@primary_geog just wondering if anyone out there has an imaginative way of teaching topography without spending hours of lesson time making models. Thanks

Some parts of the Sahara are reporting significantly above-average precipitation for September (see precipitation anomaly prediction for September). 🧐 In many areas, the long-term average annual precipitation in the Sahara does not exceed 25 mm. However, in the south and west, precipitation this September is expected to be up to five times the long-term average for September: ventusky.com/?p=21.9;19.5;3…

@La_Biologuita Ah, fair enough. Sorry - no useful suggestions!
English

@La_Biologuita Consider spending money to import a curriculum? There are plenty of options - and it buys breathing space to implement?
If you are in a Trust, can you support or copy across from another? Can they deploy shared resources to help you?

It’s certainly a cold airmass over the UK today.
Temperatures everywhere way below what we’d expect in mid September.
Over 8°C below normal in Pershore.

Another example of how cold the current airmass is for the time of year.
Yesterday was the coldest day in the first half of September for 26 years.

If it feels like it is a bit cold at the moment here in the UK, this #dataviz shows that yesterday was the coldest day for the first half of September (1st to 15th) since 1998. I don't think today is going to be much warmer!

@teachwellall I don't think a school *can* prioritise "mental health" - what it can do is focus on strategies to deliver conditions where people can be mentally healthy - psychologically safe, reduced stress, expectation or workload burdens etc.
Even then, people's MH reflects *life*...!
English

@teachwellall ... you're asking this at 6.30 on a Saturday night, which probably gives an indicator of some of the answers, right?
"Mental health" is hugely personal. It's hugely complex. People need a huge range of things for it to be there - including working to suit them etc.
English

@teachwellall I'm not sure that it's so alien. Plenty of people leave their clubs because of training ground issues, or off pitch problems... acknowledging it as part of the way that preparations happen outside of the pitch, as per teaching etc.
