The Ruto government has just reduced its planned Roads Bond from Sh175 billion to Sh120 billion. Many people won't understand why this matters, so let me break it down. The government owed road contractors billions of shillings. Instead of paying them directly, it borrowed money from commercial banks to settle part of those bills. Now it wants to borrow again, this time from investors and ordinary Kenyans through a Roads Bond, to repay those banks. Read that again. A new loan is being used to repay an old loan that was used to pay off old debts. Originally, the government wanted to raise Sh175 billion through the bond. It has now cut that target to Sh120 billion. Why? The official explanations may vary, but one thing is clear: money is tight. A huge portion of government revenue is already going towards repaying existing debt. Think of it this way: If your salary is already being swallowed by old loans, and you need another loan just to manage previous borrowing, are your finances really healthy? Yet Kenyans are constantly being told by UDA that the economy is stronger than ever. So here's the question: If the economy is doing so well, why does the government keep borrowing to repay money it borrowed before? Is this economic progress?

And Robert Alai the man who has never feared anyone developed instant, surgical, courtroom-grade amnesia. The one that’s studied in Johns Hopkins because it’s shocking…. “I neither own nor operate any Facebook account under the name Robert Alai.” FIFTEEN YEARS of posts. FIFTEEN YEARS of scandals. I had an engaging meeting with Hon. Judith Pareno, Principal Secretary at the State Department for Justice, Human Rights and Constitutional Affairs of the Republic of Kenya on the sidelines of the 35th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice #CCPCJ35. We took stock of the strong collaboration between Kenya and @UNODC, particularly in expanding access to legal aid, advancing criminal justice sector reforms, strengthening anti-corruption efforts and enhancing protection frameworks for victims of trafficking. We also explored avenues for further cooperation in police capacity-building, including counter-terrorism, as well as strengthening regional law enforcement collaboration.
