How does taking any or all of those islands control the shipping route? Iran can easily strike there from almost anywhere in the country. To keep the strait open would require eliminating Iran's offensive missile and drone capabilities everywhere, not just having a physical presence at the strait. They would just be targets.

@restoreorderusa Yes I see multiple islands being taken frankly, the shipping route needs to be controlled to complete strategic objectives. Perhaps even Qasim. UAE will participate and be given the islands, will become a US base. But no boots on the mainland.

Current prediction: Escalation in Iran involving ground troops attempting to take Kharg & enriched uranium. Doesn’t topple regime. Trump takes the W and we’re out sometime summer. Not another Iraq, but still a deviation from campaign promises & politically and economically costly. Better to have pulled out after killing the Ayatollah. Not ideal, and not something I can be accused of calling for or cheering on, but progress on domestic stuff will continue nonetheless.
