While I believe the Bob Lazar Story is based on his accurate retelling of genuine experiences at S-4, it has to be pointed out that by 1988, US corporations had already successfully reverse-engineered retrieved flying saucer technologies. This is contrary to what he concluded about reverse engineering efforts based on what he saw at S-4.
This success is best illustrated in what Brad Sorenson saw at Norton/Edward AFB in 1988, as retold by Mark McCandlish. Also, Skunkwork's CEO Ben Rich said in a 1993 lecture that we had built the tech to take ET home. Also, there are William Tompkins's revelations about the launch of space carriers in the early 1980s.
Consequently, that leads to the conclusion that Lazar was manipulated to be part of a disinformation campaign to direct researchers/Congress/general public away from the truth about secret space programs that were already in operation when he first came out in 1989.
