@rod_earle I am in the process of moving to BlueSky, but not finding the energy to build the networks I had here (yet) It is years since I read Ireland but if I remember correctly he used prisoner as a metaphor - but I may be wrong!

I have pretty much lost faith in this platform. But. Have any prison people out there read David Ireland’s The Unknown Industrial Prisoner? If so, what is it like? I’m intrigued to find a book about it called Space, Place and Capitalism. Watch this space.

@MelaynaKay Not really sure I "got it", but it has helped my own thinking and both introduced me to Denise da Silva and pointed me in the direction of Marcus Dubber. So thank you!

Are sickness benefits out of control? A £13 Billion increase between 2019 & 2024. A lot? I asked the Bank Of England how much £52 billion is worth in 2024 they tell me it's worth (to the nearest billion) £65 billion. So what we are seeing here is the impact of inflation

Friend with very terminal cancer. She was in hospital last week, semi conscious. DWP couldn't get hold of her. So they stopped her PIP. Because thats what we have become.

Mike Davis was born on this day in 1946. “At the end of the day, the best measure of the humanity of any society is the life and happiness of its children. We live in a rich society with poor children, and that should be intolerable.”

By cosying up to Putin, Trump is making Europe less safe. We all recognise the need to adapt. While European nations reshape their economies to invest in society, Labour plans to cut support for the most vulnerable.   Now is the time to change the UK’s artificial fiscal rules.

Have they lost the plot? In Feb I received 4 letters from 4 companies telling me my bills were going up. No young person paying crazy rents or on zero hours or with a sick family member woke up this morning grateful Keir Starmer is increasing defence spending.
UK Prime Minister@10DowningStreet

We asked young people and businesses how our increase in defence spending would impact them. This is what they said 👇

Stephen Kapos, an 87 year old Holocaust survivor, resident of Camden, has been called in for an interview by @metpoliceuk about pro-palestine protests. The lengths the British establishment will go to to defend their role in genocide! Solidarity Stephen: u r the best of us & Camden is proud of u ✊
John Rees@JohnWRees

The police dragging in Stephen Kapos, an 87 year old Holocaust survivor, is a new low even for the institutionally racist Met. And the rounding up of many of the leaders of the anti war movement is pure intimidation. It won’t work.
