My heartfelt appreciation goes to Somali Parliament for today’s validation of the Mining Bill, which reflects a strong commitment to responsible governance, transparency, and national development.

President H.E. @HassanSMohamud and President H.E. @RTErdogan met in Istanbul to advance Somalia–Türkiye cooperation. Following the meeting, the Minister @DahaShire confirmed strong 3D seismic results and announced that #Somalia is preparing for oil production to begin by 2026.

Today, I had a productive meeting with the Speaker of the Somali Parliament H.E Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nor Aka (madobe) and discussed ways to enhance cooperation and strengthen legislative support for the development of Somalia’s petroleum and mineral resources.

The ministry’s leadership, led by H.E. @DahaShire, presided over today’s Annual Review Meeting, highlighting @Mopmr’s performance over the past three years, focusing on accountability, transparency, and growth in #Somalia’s petroleum & mining sectors, & presenting the 2026 plan.

The @Mopmr in collaboration with the @TheOfficialSPA will hold its Annual Review Meeting on October 25–26, 2025, in Mogadishu to review the Ministry’s 2025 performance, evaluate ongoing projects, & set priorities and plans for 2026 in the petroleum and mineral resources sector.

DG @ArabeyHashi participated in the U.S.–Somalia Presidential Trade Forum (4-5 October, 2025), where he spoke on opportunities and challenges in Somalia’s oil, gas, and mineral sector and contributed to discussions on sustainable energy and infrastructure partnerships.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (@Mopmr) signed an MoU with Banadir University to strengthen collaboration in geoscience, mineral and energy management, environmental cooperation, scholarships, internships, research, and development.

Under the Türkiye Scholarships Programme, 6 young professionals from the @Mopmr have been given opportunities to pursue postgraduate studies in oil and gas. This initiative highlights the partnership between 🇹🇷 & 🇸🇴 in strengthening the country’s energy sector.

The Ministry of Petroleum & Mineral Resources, led by H.E. @DahaShire, showcased its 2022–2025 achievements at the Dan-Qaran Exhibition, highlighting key progress in petroleum development, 3D seismic exploration, legal reforms, mineral agreements, and workforce capacity building.

The Mining Act has been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers after being presented by H.E. @DahaShire. This landmark legislation provides a strong framework for regulating and managing Somalia’s mineral resources, encouraging investment, and driving economic growth for #Somalia.
