I never get how folks are so unalarmed at pointing to a place in Scripture where Godโs said something they donโt like, and saying โyeah, that time he didnโt really speakโโฆ then continuing as if the salvific promises are somehow immune to the solvent theyโve poured over the text

Brian Jacques explains why he does not have sympathetic villains in his Redwall series: "When I was a boy, morality was taught in school and in church but I think that is no longer true to the extent that it used to be. I try to create very clear moral signposts of what is right and what is wrong. The children who read my books are generally at an age where they need to have things spelled out in 'black and white,' without ambiguity. @MrAshCunningham I've been very confused about the response to this woman's post. If a rocket launch had been reflected in my glasses and I had a photo of it, of course I'd have shared that: it's so cool! All the replies mocking women for taking selfies seem uncharitable.
