I never get how folks are so unalarmed at pointing to a place in Scripture where Godโ€™s said something they donโ€™t like, and saying โ€œyeah, that time he didnโ€™t really speakโ€โ€ฆ then continuing as if the salvific promises are somehow immune to the solvent theyโ€™ve poured over the text

@plainstriumph Oh I've always been pretty convinced it happened, it's the divine sanction I doubt. Didn't know that was their view. Interesting.

I have, however, started to sketch out a Wilde-esque short story in an attempt to show the folly of regarding created Beauty as an ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต distraction from God. The Creatures full of eyes in Rev 4 surely behold all things and are thus compelled to praise the Creator.

We need to know the first five books of the Bible well. Why? Because in the remaining 61 we should be reflexively asking this key interpretive question: โ€œWhere have I heard this before?โ€

I shared this before, but I love this story about my wife: She became a Christian in college, but didnโ€™t know much about church. So at her first Easter service, when people would say the traditional greeting of โ€œHe is risen!โ€ sheโ€™d respond with an enthusiastic โ€œHeck yeah, baby!โ€

@MrAshCunningham I've been very confused about the response to this woman's post. If a rocket launch had been reflected in my glasses and I had a photo of it, of course I'd have shared that: it's so cool! All the replies mocking women for taking selfies seem uncharitable.
