@davidgandler did you know your company and customer service reps do not let returning customers sign back up to PAY to stream fubo bc “I already got a free trial.”

@MsCheicis @MattCromwellPYP We have looked at the UN Global Goals as a way to start thinking about issues. But we've also had Ss with very personal concerns that became their PYPx. #pypchat

@MattCromwellPYP It's really important to pick the right topic! We tell the Ss that they have to be in love with their topic and be passionate about inquirying/sharing/acting on that passion! #pypchat

@MattCromwellPYP @KeeneeLou I agree! I feel like students want to change their topics just within the weeks we do exhibition, I feel like a year long would narrow thinking and inhibit students from pursuing different topics of interest #pypchat

@KeeneeLou I wonder if students feel / want to change their ideas / passions much more during a year long #PYPX. I find 10 weeks can feel very long for some kids who are constantly changing their views / ideas, but 35+ weeks must be hard. Students change so quickly at that age. #pypchat

@KeeneeLou @PDin140orLESS Were the groups the same topic and each student had their own issue/action or all members were working toward the same end goal action piece? #pypchat

@PDin140orLESS Each group of 4-5 Ss had a CI related to their area of interest/issue. Then each S in that group would have a LOI that was in their individual area of interest. It really did help get the groups to form around issues and related pieces #pypchat

This next question may be helpful for those new to PYPx and those who have lots of experience! Here's Q3 #pypchat

@PDin140orLESS This may be controversial, but you know me! We moved to having each student develop/research/present around their own LOI under a group CI. That helped with ownership and responsibility. #pypchat

@IBJeanneRoss @itssoib I really liked using them last year, it exposed our kids to global issues bc a lot of them don't have much experience other than what is in their community

A2: I have had my students make lists of things they are passionate about, things they like, things they want to try, things they want to make etc.... From there they narrow down their lists. They then try to find how their chosen topic might fit with a global goal. #PYPchat

A2) move away from the idea of product... it’s a process and action happens throughout. Ss knowing the types of action and what this looks like, helps them identify “oh, hold on... I can do ALL these things and it doesn’t have to be a polished off product!” #pypchat

@KeeneeLou YES! As teachers, what can we do to move PYPx more toward action and less about research? Esp. for those students who don't have outside experiences-the research portion serves for them as "experience"

A2: This is a challenge! PYPx has research involved, but it is not a research project! We started looking at ways 10 year olds can take real action in our local community. Global perspectives...local, student initiated action. #pypchat

@nicbeins Finding mentors is always a challenge! It really helps if they are familiar with the language of the PYP and "get" what PYPX is. I always did a couple of mentor mtgs before we started with kids #pypchat

A1: once we know the topics of interest our students will be pursuing, I’d like to invite parents, teachers, administrators, and community members to be mentors to student groups, matching them with a personal passion or expertise in mind #PYPchat
