It’s honestly refreshing to see some of the bigger Call of Duty leakers lose or part with their social platforms. For too long, people have treated leaks as entertainment and forgotten how much they can hurt both developers and players. It’s time some people start respecting the games they claim to enjoy. That starts with letting developers share their work on their terms. Every reveal, teaser, and surprise moment represents months or years of passion and hard work. When leaks take form, they don’t just spoil the content; they rob developers of the satisfaction they’ve worked for and earned - and revoke some players’ chance to experience genuine surprise and delight. We’ve also created a cycle of unrealistic expectations. Leaks often hype features, maps, or modes that were never finalized, and when those things don’t make it into the game, frustration turns into outrage. We just saw it happen with the supposed “scrapped” BO7 Zombies map set in a “Nazi NYC.” It’s one of many examples of how leaks can sour anticipation before anything is officially revealed. Here’s hoping Black Ops 7 marks a turning point - not just for the series, but for the way we engage as a community. Let’s bring back the joy of discovery in gaming: the build-up to launches and updates, the shared excitement of seeing something for the first time when or if it’s meant to be seen. I get that social media and modern games have conditioned us to expect instant gratification, but it doesn’t have to hurt to wait. Anticipation can be a good thing. It’s what made those big reveals so special when we were younger. I want nothing more than to see this community rebuild its relationship with developers, and with each other. We can do better, and this year feels like the right time to start.
